My girlfriend and I spent the evening of our anniversary at Le Saveurs in Exmouth a couple of days ago and we very, very pleasantly surprised.
This restaurant is a family affair. As soon as we got to the restaurant we were greeted by the front of house who was the owner/chef's son and we were taken to our table. The restaurant itself is very intimate and comfortable but in no way pretentious.
The food was amazing. Really amazing.
This is a seafood restaurant and I went for the scallops to start and the bream with the armoricaine sauce for main, which were second to none - seriously, you have to try the armoricaine sauce. My girlfriend however went for non-seafood options and they were also fantastic. The lamb which she had for her main course was out of this world, in her words it was, "like a hug on my plate".
Again the desserts were really top notch.
The service was personal, attentive but not too much and we were made to feel so welcome.
We even ended up have a drink with the owner (Olivier) and his son at the end of our meal after everyone else had gone and he showed us some of the fish he had caught for the restaurant in the summer and talked very passionately and knowledgeably about the food on his menu.
I also must mention that the food and drinks are also fantastic value for money. This is not a cheap restaurant but I can't remember the last time I got such good value for money for dinner in the UK or even Europe.
Thank you Olivier and we'll definitely see you the next time we're in Exmouth.
