“A jewel of the Dart”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2012 via mobile

Sadly the one of the owners, Ray has moved on, he was the life and soul of the FBI. However the pub still serves excellent beer and good food, not the cheapest at times but always good. Thurday night is the one to go for as it is the Gala quiz night... Believe me yoi won't have been to one like it.
Take my crews in their when we sail up river.
A must visit if you have not been there before.

“Always great for lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012

The Ferry Boat Inn in Dittisham (FBI to the locals) in Devon is always great for a lunch break.
You will have to get there at 11.30 or call ahead if you want the seat in the window that looks across the river Dart. If its a great prawn sandwich or one of the hot dished I'm sure you will not be disappointed. If you have one too many drinks the "gents" is out side and across the road.
You can drive down and park at the river side (low tide only) or park at the car park at the top of the village and walk down.

“Fantastic views; moderate food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2012

The view from the Ferry Boat Inn at Dittisham is superb although the food is moderate; I suggest a visit to the next door cafe for good locally caught fish and equally lovely views. If you don’t know Dittisham don’t visit in darkness as you can’t park near the pub and the walk from the nearest car park in the dark without a torch is a challenge that I would have passed on!

“This is cosy and intimate, local and quirky with its own clear identity and place in the village”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2012

Great pub, on the quay at Dittisham. it isn't big and on obviously busy nights (summer evenings) you will need to book as it is very popular with locals, yachties, and tourists. Beers are really good (including their very own FBI) and there are music nights and quiz nights for all those with a competitive or musical interest. Food is good (on a blackboard) and will cover most tastes and tasty specials worth a try. If you want a great view ask for the window seat (seats 4) - big bay window overlooking the Dart. But there are small tables either side with good view, and the whole pub has a cosy warm feel. Staff are efficient and sometimes tourist fatigue shows, but come back and they will recognise you. This was great fun with good food. The Anchor Stone opposite steals the food awards but the FBI is a really good atmospheric pub and serves good and some original food that we came back for several times.

“Oh the view...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2012

This place really is all about the view.... if you book - ask for the table at the front in the window. Right on the harbour overlooking boats, the sea and across towards Greenway.

Nice food. A step up from pub grub. We had tasty chowder and nice hearty stews. Service was very friendly and they're good with kids.

After lunch take the little ferry across to Greenway for a walk or to visit the national trust property - just ring the bell at the edge of the beach to call the ferry.

Beware - check the tides - you can park on the beach but ONLY if the tide is low and if you leave your car be careful it isn't going to drown. Plus - there really is NOWHERE to turn around at the bottom so if the tide is in park in the carpark in the village and walk down. There are stories of drowned cars and burnt out clutches from having to back all the way back up the hill - and it is steep.
