“Disgusting !!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2012

We booked a bronze caravan as we have a small dog and on arrival at the caravan the first thing we noticed was the carpet in the living area which was covered in dog hairs so had obviously not been vacuumed since the previous occupants had left and the covers to the seats were ripped and dirty. I went straight to the shops to buy some dettol wipes to clean all the surfaces as these too were filthy then complained at reception about the carpet so they sent someone round to vacuum it. Light was fading as we arrived late afternoon and the caravan lights were quite dim and it wasn't until the morning that we saw just how filthy the place was. The dust was unbelievable, not to mention the hairs in the shower, the mold in the wardrobe and the mark on the bedroom carpet which looked like a dog had dragged its bottom along it. We didn't expect much of the furnishings in the caravan, but did expect it to be clean. The caravan park itself was quite depressing even on a sunny day. I would never stay here again.

Just awful. We stayed in a bronze caravan because we had a dog and it looked like it needed to be condemend. I was so tearful about having to stay in it the night that I immediately went out onto the web and rebooked us into the Holiday Inn Express in Taunton in order to know that things were going to get better! The smell in side was disgusting, the cooker was dirty and there were holes in the walls. The seating area had tears in the fabric and you could feel the springs in the mattress (which had some very nasty stains on them). We arrived at 9pm and left the next morning at 6am. Never again.

Room Tip: Don't stay in the Bronze caravans, even at £50 a night its expensive. Just awful.

It would appear if u have a dog and want to stay here, the bronze is the available option. On arrival at 10.30pm after a 4 hr drive, the site was flooded turning the grass around the vans to wet mud. There was no linen in the van but was rectified by the very friendly, helpful night porter who also provided a heater.
The caravan was disgusting!. It stank. U didn't want to put clothes away, sit on the sofas let alone sleep in the beds. There was a pair of ladies boots under the bed which were obviously left by previous occupants and the cleaner had missed..We had to wash and clean everything prior to use as we had young kids with us.
All the staff we met were really nice so there is no criticism there at all.
It's a shame that we dog owners have to literally live like one if we want to stay here. Sorry but won't be going back.

Got a good deal for four nights at the park, albeit in October so out of season. We had a Bronzeb Caravan, bit cramped but not bad. Wouldn't say it was it was dirty particularly, and had a fireplace, kitchen etc so not bad really. The park has an indoor pool, which was ok (changing rooms a bit grotty and cold!) and not a lot more at the park. The clubhouse and entertainment was good, cheesy, but good fun! There were five entertainment staff who did everything but worked hard and were good fun - clubhouse as a few arcade games and fruit machines - the shows were very cheesy but fun and the games they played with the kids went down well. The food in the clubhouse was decent and, along with drinks at the bar, were reasonably priced. When we picked up our keys, we were given vouchers for free food/drink for every day - which was really good. We had a few free beers/wines, free curry, free huge ice-cream and a generous cooked breakfast, so really good value. There didnt seem to be very much in the local area to do (though, admittedly we were out of season). In Dawlsh Sands there is a stones beach and a amusement arcade - we ended up driving to other towns such as Dawlish, Teignmouth and Torquay for days out, which aren't too far away - but not much within 30 mins walking distance of the park. So best to use it as a base for exploring South Devon, but if you are stuck in Dawlish Sands without a car then not a great deal to do or see. In summary, a decent park, good and friendly staff but not a lot too do locally. Was good for a cheap few days with the family, but would be disappointed with the location if it was our main Summer holiday.

Room Tip: Might be worth upgrading above a bronze caravan to have a bit more space.

My family and i stayed for a week in a Gold plus caravan, it was a 10 berth van so im guessing we lost living space for the extra bedroom?
On arrival the van seemed tidy, it smelt and looked clean,
However, the bathroom blind fell down on my daughter with her just trying to close it to shower, we thought no more and my father fixed it back up!
My sister sat on the sofa which felt sunken in, on taking off the cushions the wood underneath was broken, so we managed to balance the loose parts and put the cushions back on, it seemed fine after although we did have to do that a few times!
Our children were playing hide n seek ( as you do in a caravan in the rain!!!) my nephew and daughter were hiding under the single bed, when he got up they were absolutly filthy, covered in dust and dirt! after sweeping the bedroom floor i found hair grips, toe nail clippings, and lots of dirt i then went round the rest of the van which seemed like it hadnt been swept or mopped for a long time :-/
we didnt complain because each thing seemed fixable and we were on hols and wanted to just get on with it!

We did all have a fantastic week, loads to do around the site and the entertainment each night was AMAZING!!! We all got up to join in games and have a dance and our little ones 2,3 and 5 fell in love with the friendly, bubbly funny team :-) Georgia, Faye and Dave were fab after explaining they were all full of flu and had two members off sick, We would definatly go back for the entertainment and location of the park but would maybe upgrade and hope for a cleaner van in better order next time!!!!

I have just came back from a four night stay at Dawlish Sands was very worried about going after reading some reviews but glad we went.
We stayed in a gold caravan and it was lovely heating clean and cosy was closed to club house aswell.
I have been on a lot of caravan holidays and I think the enterainment staff was fantasic and done a great job yes the club house was on the small side but it was more personal all the enterainment staff are really good singers put on great shows and was fantasic with the children. My children are 11 7 and 1 and they all loved it.
The swimming pool was lovely and warm and a good size I do think the changing rooms can do with an update and some showers.
We ate at the cafe once which was reasonable priced and taste like cafe food.
Dawlish Warren is lovely 10 minute walk and the kids loved the donkey ride.
Overall we all loved the site we would go back there again and credit to the enterainment staff there all great and a holiday is how you make it.

When we arrived everything looked OK, but that was about it. We were allocated a caravan at the furthest point from any of the facilities. My father (80) was unable to walk that far to the clubhouse, there was no parking near the clubhouse, so the money I spent on entertainment passes was a waste of time and money.
The caravan was the shabbiest I have ever seen with trim hanging off, the table was an accident waiting to happen I nearly caught my hand in the flap as it crashed down when the leg was accidently moved.
I even sent off the questionnaire and have had no reply, from this I probably will not book with PARK HOLIDAYS AGAIN.
I also feel that Park Holidays should re-grade their existing system.

Room Tip: Do not book Dawlish Sands
