“Great weekend away”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2013 via mobile

Went for a family weekend break with dog staying in a woodland lodge with hot tub. By far exceeded our expectations and would rather come here than centre parcs any day! Nice clean lodge, plenty of storage space, nice pools although a little small, lovely bar/restaurant, polite staff, had a great weekend and will return

On arrival we were warm let greeted by reception staff, who gave us info regarding facilities etc, and where our lodge was situated. We checked into our Log Cabin and it was gorgeous smelt clean everything was clean beds made up tea coffee supplies also new dish cloth and tea towel. Rooms were spacious and lounge dining area and kitchen all open plan but again spacious. Nice plasma tv iPod docking station and DVD player. Fully fitted kitchen with everything you need. Very impressed and was well above what I expected after reading some comments, you will never please everyone, sometimes some people will always moan for no good reason. My children used indoor and outdoor pool which was ideal just across road from our cabin. All facilities on site are great yes some are free and some you pay for but you expect that. Fishing was lovely nice lakes. All staff are helpful kind and welcoming. You can rent a DVD for reasonable charge. Food at the Retreat bar was very good steaks are tender and cooked how you want. Curry night(sat) us great. Staff in there are nice polite and nothing is too much trouble for them. I had a fabulous weekend all children ages 7,9,13 and 16 enjoyed it too so much so we booked whilst there another holiday for August and are seriously thinking of buying one next year. Well done Finlake.

We stayed for one week in a lodge with our children and dog. You would never know dogs were allowed as there were no dog smells and it was lovely and clean.

The hot tub was freshened with chlorine every day.

The carvery food was excellent, the night time entertainment was quality rather than typical British nonsense. The kids activities were great, water walking etc. The pool wasn't heted outdoors when we went but I believe that it is now :-)

I would go back in a flash it's a great place.

Booked for 3 nights in the deluxe lodge . What a great choice hot tub out of this world sauna great and the surroundings brilliant. We just wanted a chilled weekend and it was great. We have just booked to go back in September with the children to stay in the deluxe again as there is plenty for them to do and we can't wait.

We have just returned from a 5 day break at Finlake having stayed in a 6 person 2 Storey Luxury Lodge. We were blessed with sunny weather but the overall holiday experience was very good.
Lodge was clean and tidy and well appointed. The dining room chairs are a bit too low for the dining table and the bedrooms could benefit from better use of storage space and include a drawer unit and some more shelving.Bedrooms are however a good size.

The staff on site were helpful and the facilities were well maintained. The indoor pool is nice but looks a little bit small for when the park has high season visitors. (Only problem being the changing rooms were under refurbishment at the time of our visit).

We had a Take-Away meal one evening from the on site Bar/Restaurant which was a little expensive but of a decent quality.

Children's play area has been improved since our last visit in 2011 along with the Shop.

Beauty Treatment Room,Tennis Courts, Woodland Walks,Archery,Horse Riding,Outdoor Pool and a Modern Gym give the visitor to Finlake plenty of things to do.

Finlake is well located close to the A38 (Main route through Devon) and near to Dartmoor National Park and just a few miles from Newton Abbot and the Torbay coast.

Just got back from our weeks break to finlake' 21/4/13 to 27/4/13.' Went with the my family the youngest being age 3. Our accommodation was Fab we had a woodland luxery lodge 3 bedrooms two on the 2nd floor and one downstairs , Fab size rooms my only moan about it and is my only 1 are the downstairs beds are very very uncomfortable , we had everything in the lodge from tee towels down to bathrobes, hot tub a must after a day out the grandson fell in love with it first in and last out every day, sauna, a shower downstairs and bath upstairs , we used the swimming baths not big but a great thing to have the outdoor pool looked Fab but wash,t open in the week only weekends but it is low season so wasn't,t really bothred . The site also has a bar on we went there 3 nights good to have on site to as you can walk to it and can all have a drink and no-one has got to drive, there where some kids clubs on for a small fee our grandson went to the pirate club and had a Fab time. Site is a hilly so if you struggle to walk its not a site for you I do and found it hard with the hills and steps, our cabin was quite a bit away from our car to and had to struggle with the cases, overall though had a fantastic stay there and would return again if could have a cabin higher up and near for us to get to the car,

Another relaxing stay at Finlake..... 3rd time now. Had a 6 birth platinum lodge with hot tub. Very clean and tastefully decorated. We enjoyed the hot tub which was serviced regularly but it was cold on getting out of it as being high up it caught the wind.
Finlake has so much to offer. The restaurant is good all be it has a small menu and a little overpriced for this type of restaurant. They also put orange fresh fruit juice in a PLASTIC glass as using real glass for fruit juice stains the glass......what world are they living in.

Room Tip: Go for the largest lodge you can and one with a view up in the Tors or Templar Rise.
