“Short visit but well worth it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2013

We only had a couple of cream teas & some Rocky Roads for our two boys. However the service was welcoming & the meals & deserts looked very very appetising. Wish we'd discovered it before.

“Book for the special monthly dinner”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2013

We booked for their special monthly Dinner & were delighted with the set menus of 3 courses with 2 choices on each plus very reaonable standard wines with their own label. Wine was sourced from France.
We also visited on 3 other occasions for light lunch & morning teas & were always amazed at the quality & service in this lovely village which is not overly endowed with such eating establishments.

“Good coffee and nice cakes”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2012

The coffee was slow in coming but worth the wait, and the cakes we tried were all excellent. Lunches looked good too and lots of locals were using the place, so they seem to rate it highly. it's a bit scruffy from outside but staff welcoming and you don't eat the paint after all!

“do not miss their great bistro evenings.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2012

Harveys is already well known as a good cafe during the day, but im sure their are still locals who do not realise that they also put on frequent Bistro evenings. not to be missed..excellent three course menu..very reasonably priced and also a good selection of local bottled beers and bottles of wine to buy which is also a good price..a very cosy atmosphere and good service. what else can i say. numbers are limited so best to book early. ive just been to one this week and have been to several others all as good as the next.

“Best in the West”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2012

Make mine a Latte, in a proper tall glass, with a long spoon (why do Costa sell coffee in a soup bowl?).

I recently completed 312 miles around the Cornish Coast Path. In that time I was able to sample a good number of coffee shops and cafes. None were as good as Simon and Sally's excellent place here in Chudleigh.

The proprietors and staff "sell" much more than coffee and light lunches. They engage with their customers, and add an extra zing to the day. Best time to visit Friday the day after a Bistro night, there's usually a superb choice of good value puddings.

When you've finished nip over the road and try "The Sugar Mill" - great for old fashioned sweets.
