“A great stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2013

We had a family wedding and booked several rooms for the weekend. The hotel was exceptionally helpful with all the booking arrangements before the event and very welcoming and efficient throughout our stay. The staff were friendly, the food was great and the rooms were wonderful - a great mix of old and new. All our wedding guests who stayed there commented on what a lovely hotel it was. We appreciated the way that all the staff went out of their way to accommodate any of our wishes and were flexible, organised and friendly at all times. There was a wonderfully warm atmosphere and exceptional service throughout our whole stay..

We had a nice lunch here accompanied by a number of wasps ;-)

We had a very warm welcome from a rather nervous chap in his late teens or early twenties. We were also welcomed by the manager.

To cut a long story short we sat in the courtyard and enjoyed a nice lunch of a muffin and cup of tea for my myself and my wife. My son had a glass of milk and a sausage sandwhich (I finished it off). It was all good quality and the muffins were first class. Very refreshing tea!

The value was good for a Chagford Hotel and I expected it to be a few pounds more. I strongly recommend they keep it this way.

So to sum up. Lovely surroundings, nice food and drinks, friendly staff but lacking small details like cutlery and napkins (I had to ask for these for my son).

I would visit again.

Room Tip: We didn't stay, just lunch.

Unfortunately we spent just one night, but this is a lovely spot and an excellent hotel and restaurant.
Chagford is a lovely village not yet spoilt by mass tourism and souvenir shops. It remains a 'real' village with a great atmoshere.
The Three Crowns sits in the centre of the village and has recently been completely refurbished in a very tasteful manner and at some expense. The bar and dining areas are very comfortable and spacious.Bedrooms are attractive, comfortable and well equipped'
Dinner was excellent as was the service.
Overall a most pleasant stay and we shall certainly return for a longer spell

We stayed in a Superior room for three nights at the beginning of September. It was a brilliant stay. Although we moved rooms straight away as it wasn't what we had booked, the hotel were great and apologised for the mix up.
All the staff were very helpful. We had great service from them during dinner and breakfast (we ate there for all 3 evenings). The food was fantastic. Local suppliers, well cooked and presented. Breakfast was good with all tastes catered for, items cooked fresh to order.
The hotel has been very well restored and the attention to detail is very good. The location is good allowing you to get to the moor very easily.
We would stay there again.
Thank you for a great stay.

The perfect stay in the most pretty village. Wonderfully warm welcome and the service continued to be exceptional. Our room (superior) was pretty, tastefully decorated and had all mod cons including lush bed. Bathroom was great and everything was spotless! Had dinner which was fabulous - tasty, hot and great service. Breakfast next morning was also fabulous. Cannot find anything but positive comments and we will return. So nice to stay somewhere where you feel looked after from the minute you enter the door!

Good hotel - very well put together, I guess it cost quite a bit of money to achieve the high standard of finish without losing the charm of the place.

Had a little problem waiting for a menu, by the time they had worked out what was going to be on the specials menu half an hour had passed!!

Other than that, excellent stay and we would stay again.

Stayed three nights for our birthday treat, booked the suite which was furnished and equipped to a high standard. Service was good had to prompt them for service in the bar a couple of times, we used the hotel for our dinner all three nights and had great food and service, although on two occasions we had a table which was inches away from another couple which was slightly uncomfortable. Breakfast was very good cooked to order with local produce. Overall a good base for the Moors and beyond and we would use again.
