“Terrific Hotel & Restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2013

We stayed for 2 nights at the 3 crowns, the friendliness and informal professionalism of the staff from our initial contact, when making our reservation and throughout our stay was terrific.
Our visit coincided with a significant fall of snow making the atmosphere in this most delightful of English villages very special indeed.
Our room was large, well appointed and very comfortable with plenty of space for our outdoor clothes, walking boots, bags, etc.
The quality of the food, whether breakfast, dinner, or the scones served for afternoon tea was consistently good.
The choices for dinner could perhaps be slightly extended but the dishes we had were uniformly well presented and the quality of the meat and fish was excellent.
We hope to stay again before too long.

Was just looking for a nice hotel/inn to stay between meetings in Devon and found this beauty. I often stay in Premier Inn's but also try and look for nice Hotels/Inns on the budget my company allow. I believe this hotel should charge more as I paid £60 for a superior room which included breakfast. The hotel itself is very modern yet still has the very old look about it. Lovely roaring fire in the bar. The dinner I had was slightly more expensive than what I normally pay but I managed a 3 course meal for £22 (without drinks). As for the food itself, it was lovely, as was the breakfast in the morning. All the staff, and I mean all the staff, were happy, smiley and helped in everyway possible. Thank you for a lovely stay and hope to come back again one day.

Room Tip: To gain access to the room I was in, Room 3, you had to take about 20 steps outside to get to the do...

My boyfriend and I stayed at The Three Crowns for a mid week treat and it really was!
Beautifully yet sympathetically refurbished with real attention to detail. The restaurant/ conservatory gives a real contempary twist to the building yet your only a few steps away from sitting in comfy armchairs next to a roaring open fire in the original bar area.
The receptionist who dealt with our check in was most helpful and polite and nothing was to much trouble. All of the restaurant/ pub staff were all very pleasant also.
We stayed in room 7 which was a beautiful room that overlooked the courtyard.
The bed was huge and so comfortable, and the bathroom was spotlessly clean and well appointed with luxury bath products and plenty of fluffy towels and a real plus were the soft dressing gowns hung on the bathroom door.
Everything about this hotel was excellent and a complete steal at £80 B&B per night for a superior room.
I only hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did.

My family had a great Saturday night at The Three Crowns. The staff made my dads birthday really special. the rooms are tastefully decorated with everything you needed. Toiletries, mineral water, coffee and tea facilities were all provided and of a high standard.
The staff decorated the table on arrival and were very well spoken and professional.
Food was fantastic - I particularly liked the monkfish risotto.

Room Tip: Chagford Square facing room has a better view.

Went for lunch on 02.01.2013. could not get into conservatory to eat as fully booked
( we had not made a reservation ), however not a problem as we ate in the bar which was more than adequate, the roaring fire very welcoming.
The staff on the day, bar staff and waitresses were exceptional, Hospitality as it should be!!
The food, I had the sausages my partner had a ploughmans was excellent,
I can recommend the 3 Crowns for its food and by the standards of the refurbishment I can only assume the rooms are equally as high.
I look forward to visiting again hopefully with a stay included as well.
