“A blast from the past”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2012

Love it! I used to live in Chagford in the 1960s and now live in Australia. We return to Chagford regularly but only found this pub in 2011. It is just like Devon pubs of my youth - before so many were vandalised to meet the demands of the tourist trade!

“A good old fashioned English country pub”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2012

We first visited the Northmore Arms 12 years ago and found it to be a very friendly cozy pub. We visited again this year when on holiday visiting family and it was just the same.
We went mid week this time so it was less busy although it filled up with locals a bit later on and the barman was friendly.
We ate there and the food was excellent and the portions were huge. We had to wait on the chef arriving but that was ok as we sat outside in the sun and sampled the local ale.
The toilets are interesting! The ladies is upstairs in the flat above the pub and the gents is outside in a brick outhouse. Lovely unspoiled pub.

“A Cheesy Visit!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2012

Let me start by saying that this is a review of the pub itself, rather than the restuarant, for although we ate there it was just sandwiches in the bar. The pub itself was small and compact and in the right circumstances it would have lent itself to being intimate. However, some pubs have patrons that seem to resent strangers mixing in, and unfortunately this place is one such pub. We heard someone mutter 'Oh look, we have punters'! a remark which my wife and I took in our stride, but as time wore on, it became evident that everyone else was giving us the cold shoulder. After a short wait the sandwiches arrived, which were OK, but not particularly imaginative since on the menu board every choice of sandwich had cheese in it, so if you didn't like cheese, there was nothing else. In short, if you are looking for a friendly pub, you won't find it here!

“Excellent Pub”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2012

Visited the North More Arms, it was perfectly charming. With a lovely atmosphere, brilliant food & wonderful situation, i dont see what more you could want! A cosy, traditional pub with a very friendly barman.

“Very disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2011

Went to The Northmore arms on a Saturday lunch time in september, after the winding journey through the country lanes we finally found the pub and the first thing i noticed was that there was no disabled access and if you were a wheelchair user you would have to go down the main road from the carpark as there were steep steps from the carpark to the entrance of the pub and garden. There are also steps into the pub so its not a disabled friendly pub. This is not mentioned on their website!
On entering the pub you notice how dirty the place is and how it looks neglected, the barman looks as though he would rather be else where and when the chef entered the bar i don’t think i have seen any one looking so miserable. We had planned to eat there but the lack of atmoshpere ,very limited menu and the price of food put us off (£8.00 for ham egg & chips)-and this was the cheapest item!
The pub is situated in a lovely location and is ideal for walkers passing by who could sit in the garden on a nice summers day/evening. We will not be going back.
