“How to turn failure into success!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2013

The friendliest cab driver in the UK (YES, THEY DO EXIST!), recommended this brilliant restaurant/pub/hotel to us for a great meal.

He certainly wasn,t wrong!! The place has recently undergone a two million pound refurb, and it was money well spent. The minimalist decor oozes quality and makes homage to the past histopry of the building in a modern and contemporary way.

The food was superb, but what makes this place stand ou is the exceptional standards of customer care from being greeted with charm and smiles to point of leaving.

Everyone we met was totally professional, totally enthused about working in the place, and totally focussed on providing the best service possible.

When we arrived there was a champagne promotion highlighted on the bar - buy a bottle for £25. We duly took advantage of this deal and placed our order. A few minutes later, a delightful, and seriously apologetioc waitress (Annabel), reported that the promotion was an old one and should have been taken down before we arrived as it was no longer valid.

We replied that since the deal had been advertised we thought that the Three Crowns should really honour it. A couple of minutes later the duty manager came to apologise and not only did they honour the deal, but they gave it to us for free!!

Fabulous customer service and an example to the rest of the hospitality business.

All in all a fantastic experience, great location, great food, great wine, and above all else incredible staff.

A big thank you to our cab driver for a spot on recommendation!!

“Good Value Varied Menu”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2013

Ate here for tow nights when staying at the hotel - the menu was varied with a large choice of specials each night as well as the regular menu. The food was fresh, interesting and good sized portions which were good value - the dining area in the conservatory is intimate and warm and would be lovely in the summer too. The staff were attentive and friendly and it was a good experience. We felt the atmosphere was just right - not too noisy but warm and cosy and relaxing. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff.

“Perfect!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2013

I booked a table on New Year's eve lunchtime to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday. Over the phone I mentioned this and asked a for a few things to be organised and after giving a few details, the Three Crowns did the rest.

On arrival, prosecco glasses were ready and the cork was popped quickly. The food we ordered (the chateaubriand for two) was absolutely sublime. There were 4 of us in total and not a crumb from any course was left on the plates!

After the food, the staff delivered a personalised (delicious!) birthday cake and sang Happy Birthday.

Thanks so much to the staff and chefs for going to the trouble - it transformed a birthday meal into something very special and personal.

“same old .. same old....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012

We stay in chagford every year for our autumn break. We tried the Three crowns, as we have seen the renovations in progress, for a change. The food was nice and well cooked but if you are looking for the ambience of a traditional local community pub then go to the Ring of Bells, nearby. The three crowns unfortunately resembles the branded large corporate establishments of this kind - like walking into a Premier Inn. Which we can't stand or tolorate .... Nothing like the good old fashioned pubs, with character..
