“Not Great.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2012

Have just spent a week in landscove. It was Oct half term so busy but not packed. The location is fantastic for coastal walks around Berry head and the surrounding areas. Brixham is very close by but hilly to return. The accomodation was very basic and relatively clean. As with other reviewers of this site you must upgrade. Looking at other accomodation ours was positively luxurious. We upgraded to platinum. The site itself is very dated and could do with dragging into modernity. The food was pretty good and very well priced, however the actual restaurant only holds about 30 people which is woefully inadequate. This also goes for the swimming pool, small and cold. The shop was expensive and understocked, The staff however were very friendly and helpfull, constantly multitasking. The lifeguard was also waiting. The entertainment was basic but ok. Not too much for the children. All in all the park is old and dated but very quiet and peaceful, and we went through the sun holiday tokens so happy with this price. i wouldnt want to pay ant more. Having said that the surrounding area and Brixham is glorius.

Room Tip: Must upgrade accomodation. Platinum.

I have visited lots of holiday parks up and down the UK but the accommodation and amenities provided to us here are the worst we have ever experienced.
As others have said, I manage my expectations when booking at places like the Landscove, but I do expect the rooms to be clean.
The accommodation we were presented with at first was a shed.
I asked for an upgrade, explaining that I was happy to pay.
The accommodation I was offered appeared to be better, so I took.
Unfortunately, the entire place reeked of damp.
The bathroom was shocking - obviously if hasn't been touched since it was placed on site.
The double bed was essentially a sheet over springs.
We ended up leaving early.
STAY AWAY!!

Just make sure you up grade your accommodation, the cottages are really nice and clean. Staff are very helpfull, entertainment really good also the food.
very enjoyable holiday. But I think you would need a car quite hilly, and a bit of a walk to a bus stop.

Room Tip: Ask to go in to the cottages, they are really nice.

just returned from here after booking with sun newspaper tokens , i allways write an honest review as i take as i find and in a lot of cases people want 5* for 2* prices here goes , check in brill arrived early (3pm) should have been 4pm got keys straightaway found chalet 2 bed bronze easy first impressions ok dated but clean . took our own bedding as i allways do and our own food shop as the on site shop is very basic and expensive .the location is great for berry head you can walk into brixham but it is very hilly on your return so car or taxi is best parking in brixham would be a nightmare in high season but not bad off peak .after 4 nights i was ready to leave the chalet as it did smell damp there are heaters in all rooms so wasnt cold just not cosy or comfy but paying our low price was ok but i definatly would not pay what they are charging for the same chalet in summer months not worth it at all , frying pan rubish but all kitchen pots and pans ok to sum up very dated ,basic but clean do not pay alot of money for this accomadation !!!!

Stayed for a week in a so-called 'Platinum' unit.
Check-in was straightforward; they requested that, after unloading, please park in the car park, not on the grass by the unit. As my unit was the furthest from the car park, AND it was pouring with rain, AND nobody else adhered to this request, I didn't either !
The unit looked OK at first; nice bedroom and bathroom, and a living area with 2 sofas, TV on the wall, smoked glass dining table and a unit/worktop in the corner equipped with micro-wave, fridge, toaster, kettle and crockery/cutlery.
Now, when I booked on-line, the web-site stated: "Please note:- These units do not have facilities to cook". This was OK by me because I was only using it as a base, intending to dine out.
When I contacted the Park reception they said, "our (Platinum) units are supplied with a dining table and crockery for having breakfast together or making snacks etc..."
Fair enough, there is no oven or hob, BUT, if they have supplied all this stuff, and you use it, where are you supposed to wash it all up !!
Imagine 4 adults (for which the unit is advertised) having coffee/toast/cereal/ juice, and then having to 'do the dishes' in the hand basin or bath !! Wot a farce.
If this is a top-of-the range unit, then what are the Bronze units like ? (Mud-huts on the beach maybe ?)
I can't comment on the entertainment/restaurant/bar because I didn't use them, but the park in general looked very " tired."
I, personally, would NOT recommend these units.
Be warned, if you do take a so-called 'Platinum' unit and you decide to eat- in, be prepared to wash the dishes while taking a shower...!

Room Tip: DON'T have a Platinum if you want to self-cater.

We stayed for two weeks from the 7th to the 21st September in a bronze chalet. The furniture is still old and pretty uncomfortable, but it was a vast improvement on the one we stayed in last year. The mattress in the double room was well past it's 'use by date', but we went to reception the next morning and a new mattress was delivered within a few hours.

We found all of the staff to be pleasant and helpful. We used the restaurant every evening, the two waitresses, Steph and Jodie were lovely. They were obviously overworked, but managed to keep a smile on their faces despite this. Sometimes the food took a while to arrive but, when it did, it was very tasty. The entertainment team, headed by Jen, were great. They worked very hard and were extremely talented young people. When they realised we were there for two weeks they altered the shows slightly so that they were still enjoyable to watch. On our last night, they went all out to make our last show hilarious! Well done!

Room Tip: If you are taking dogs, you have no choice than to book a Bronze chalet. Basically, if you are not...

Just returned from another fantastic stay at Landscove. Having always stayed in the wooden chalets in the bottom site, this was our first stay in the cottages at the top. I was pleasantly surprised. Although the bedrooms are small, the accommodation was clean and well equipped. It was a perfect base for our family of four for a weekend break. The bonus as well is the gorgeous sea view - unbeatable!

The other highlight of our stay was the high level of service from all the staff. Everyone, inc bar staff, waiting staff and the entertainment team, seemed to be working hard to ensure that we were all having a good break. The entertainment team are fantastic and again seemed to work tirelessly to ensure that everyone was having fun - especially the children. The evening entertainment was fantastic too.

Visiting Landscove has yet to disappoint. We were sad to leave but will look forward to returning again next year.
