We arrived at the modest bungalow that is Brookside Guest house an hour earlier than we had advised, not a problem at all, we were shown into a beautifully decorated house and upstairs to the haven of peace and tranquility that was to be our home for the next 4 nights, the house is decorated in lovely cool, neutral tones and is spotlessly clean, the beds are supremely comfortable and the pillows feather, we slept like a babies on all 4 nights.
Tess brought us a tray of tea and cake and left us to settle in, there was absolutely nothing that was lacking in the room, not the mean little sachets of shower gels and miniature soaps here, large bottles of lovely scented shampoos and shower gels. Fluffy white towels, and lots of teas and coffes on the tray, and the UHT milk that actually tastes like milk!
Breakfasts really set you up for the day, I was glad I was there 4 days, lovely buttermilk pancakes served with real maple syrup and a red fruit compote, Dartmouth smoked kippers, Full English, and home made marmalade.
We could not have felt more welcomed by John and Tess if we were old family friends, I will not stay anywhere else now if I'm in the area.
