My partner and I went down to Brixham for a wedding and decided to stay a few extra days. I searched for a long time on the internet for a B&B and this one definitely stood out and we were not let down. The B&B is very stylish, modern and trendy, the owners are really lovely and the breakfasts are amazing. This place is second only to the Berryhead hotel!

This is our second stay at Brookside Guest House. We were really impressed on our previous visit as we liked the fact it was so clean, comfortable, surroundings lovely, and the breakfasts were amazing. We went back again this year and decided to take my parents for my mum's 80th birthday. John & Tess made us all so very welcome and it was great to be back, especially being with my mum & dad who said how much they felt at home. Also, they have a lovely garden to relax in and when we arrived we had tea & cakes on the patio area. Can't recommend this Guest House enough, the breakfast menu was fab and we look forward to our next visit. John & Tess are so friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. We will be going back again next year.

Stayed here for 2 nights with my husband and parents. Dad is disabled and before we booked I spoke with John at length who was so helpful. On arrival we were shown to our rooms which were beautifully decorated and spotlessley clean.. We were then served tea and cake in the garden - what a pleasure. Breakfast was just wonderful, great menu with lovely choice and cooked to perfection. John and Tess are fantastic hosts and can not do enough for you. An absolutely delightful B&B worthy of the highest praise. If we return to Brixham we will without doubt stay here again.

We arrived at the modest bungalow that is Brookside Guest house an hour earlier than we had advised, not a problem at all, we were shown into a beautifully decorated house and upstairs to the haven of peace and tranquility that was to be our home for the next 4 nights, the house is decorated in lovely cool, neutral tones and is spotlessly clean, the beds are supremely comfortable and the pillows feather, we slept like a babies on all 4 nights.
Tess brought us a tray of tea and cake and left us to settle in, there was absolutely nothing that was lacking in the room, not the mean little sachets of shower gels and miniature soaps here, large bottles of lovely scented shampoos and shower gels. Fluffy white towels, and lots of teas and coffes on the tray, and the UHT milk that actually tastes like milk!

Breakfasts really set you up for the day, I was glad I was there 4 days, lovely buttermilk pancakes served with real maple syrup and a red fruit compote, Dartmouth smoked kippers, Full English, and home made marmalade.

We could not have felt more welcomed by John and Tess if we were old family friends, I will not stay anywhere else now if I'm in the area.

We chose to stay in Brixham for the night because it was a convenient stopping off point on our map.

The welcome we received at Brookside was warm and friendly. We arrived in the afternoon to fresh tea and muffins and an incredibly helpful owner. We stayed in the Junior suite which is a lots maller than it sounds but, I would say that small (in this case) was not a bad thing and perhaps it would be better to describe it as "Bijoux". It was very clean with contemporary furtniture and a good bed. We had a separate TV corner with flat screen TV and DVD. The B&B also holds a pretty decent collection of DVDs for guests complimentary use.

The Brookside breakfast was hearty. There's loads of choice over and above the traditional full English breakfast. I plumped for pancakes that were served with a great blackberry conserve. My other half had toasted muffins and poached eggs. We also tried the homemade orange marmalade. After breakfast we couldn't even think about eating until 4pm in the afternoon!

However, while I would recommend Brookside WHOLEHEARTEDLY as a great place to stay, I would not personally recommend Brixham as a location to visit during the day - unless you like "kiss-me-quick", Blackpool-type holidays. You might want to do what we did which was to stay in Brookside but take the ferry for the day to Dartmouth. Dartmouth is very pretty, with lots of restaurants, boutiques, art galleries and deli's. However, considering its only about 4 miles away from Brixham its over priced.
