“Comfey beds but no smugglers!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2013

We went down to Brixham for a weekend by the sea. The Smugglers Haunt hotel gave us an excellent welcome and showed us to the room. it was a typical seaside hotel set up, with rooms that were never really designed to hold a family, BUT the room was of a reasonable size and clean; and the most important thing for me was that the beds were comfey and the bed linen great. We had a great nights sleep even with the noisey seagulls!

Breakfast was a traditional full english. Not great for the waist but the bacon was good quality and the mushrooms fresh.

The overall value was very good. Its not a high end hotel and does not position itself as being one, but i would certainly stay there again.

Me and 2 of my mates stayed at the smugglers rest last weekend 2/11/12 for 2 nights and could not fault the place.
The staff and owners were very nice and helpful, the rooms were spotless and had nice comfy beds.
The breakfasts, well what can i say if you are a greedy pig like myself there fantastic (LOADS OF IT).
Would definitely stay there again and recommend it to other friends.

Room Tip: All rooms are ok,try and book a family room if their quiet.

Our first staycation in 17 years bought us to this lovely fishing harbour and the smugglers haunt hotel.
It was good overall, the owners were very friendly and made us feel welcome.
The hotel is well located and easy to find, there is a public car park opposite so parking was easy but costly.
We were B&B and the breakfast was great with fast efficient service and the best bacon I have ever tasted.
On the whole apart from the weather we enjoyed it and would stay again

We stayed for one night here, and were made very welcome. The rooms are well furnished and the facilities are all there. The breakfast was lovely and our hosts excellent. I would really recommend a stay here.

We stayed four nights in this hotel, the room was very nice however bathroom a little small. Owners were ok, although he said to us "we don't usually take younger people" which was slightly off putting. Breakfast was good full English, although served a little earlier for whats supposed to be a week off work, between 8-9am. Overall nice place close to all amenities in Brixham. Watch out for the seagulls though, very noisy during early hours of the morning.
