My wife and I and our dog visited Braunton on the suggestion of our son on Monday 15th October for Lunch. Dogs are not allowed but there is sheltered seating outside the front of the restaurant. The venue has quite a large restaurant and covers two floors. Also to the right hand side is the Take Away facility. Whilst they were quite busy we ordered the Flagship, Fish, Chips and mushy peas with a pot of tea. The tea came quickly and we warmed ourselves with this as the weather was somewhat chilly seated outside. The Fish and chips etc were delivered within about 15 minutes which tended to indicate they were made fresh for us. I must mention the toilets which were magnificent in their cleanliness and also their state of the art fixtures. From the taps to the hand dryer no expense has been spared. It would have been worth going just to use these brilliant facilities. Back to our luncheon which was as stated very good, however it was not the best we had ever had but very acceptable in the circumstances. I suppose we were expecting thick pieces of cod rather than the offerings we had. Also the mushy peas were not from original soaked pea format. Another nice touch we saw but did not try was the bread, which unlike many places was not sliced but good thick cut bread and butter. All in all a very nice luncheon with a cost inclusive of about £17-50p and was good value. One other point would be that as we were sat outside we could be viewed from all the customers inside the facility and with buses stopping just in front of the restaurant privacy is not something you would get if you were looking for same.
