“Really friendly, great time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2013

My wife, our 21 month old son and I went here for a 4 night break. The caravan was clean, the site was immaculate and the staff very friendly. It might be a lot busier during high season but we found it good. Word of advice, on the roads approaching the bay, they are single track, so be prepared to take your time and give way.

Me and my boyfriend have just returned home from a 3 night stay at Challaborough bay and we loved every minute of it! Beautiful location overlooking a lovely beach, lovely caravan which had everything we needed and plenty of space! We didnt have any issues with the narrow roads i dont think there as bad as people make out u just need to be aware and take your time and they are fine! Had a nice meal at the waterfront pub on friday night, unfortunately i discovered a daddy long legs in mine but the staff were very helpful and appologetic and i had the meal taken off the bill and a free drink too. These things cant be helped! Nice clubhouse with ok entertainment friday nights was very cheesy but saturday night was much better with a street dance group and male vocalists who were fab! We enjoyed the bingo and drinks were reasonably priced which is good as some holiday parks are pricey on alcohol. We enjoyed the walk to burgh island and were very lucky with the weather. We went back on sunday only to find the sea tractor wasnt running and the tide had come in so was a quick sprint back over to the other side - getting very wet and cold in the process!! But funny all the same :) overall a fab park with lovely caravans and very peaceful. Great for couples but not a great deal for children if your a family looking for lots of things for ur children to do. We will defo be back next year.

Just back from a short break to this site on one of the newspaper deals. It was good value for money but there are a few drawbacks which I think would disappoint anyone paying full price. If you're paying a lot for this then my rating would reduce to average. We had a 3 bed central heated caravan (for 2 of us) which was spotless (other than stained matress) but the oven grill was not working and we would usually grill a lot of our food (there was an undated note saying awaiting engineer whom staff advised was 'coming' but didn't). We took our own bedding including a matress cover as I'd read previous reviews. Caravans are quite close together and a bit 'tired' at the end of the season. Staff are very helpful and friendly.
The campsite is down a very winding, often very narrow road with passing places - hubby drove every time as I was not confident - particularly after we met the bin wagon! approx 45 mins to Plymouth so don't be fooled by maps.
On the positive side the pool, sauna and gym were all very good, although I think they'll be a bit small in the summer it's fine off season. It was great fun watching the surfers and we did have a bit of a view of the sea. Food is hot, tasty and reasonably priced. The walking along the coast and across to Burgh Island is very scenic and not difficult to find/follow. Watch out that you don't stray from the footpaths on top of the cliffs as some areas look a little unsafe.
No idea what the entertainment is like as we didn't go. The children's outdoor play area is small

I just got back this Saturday from a week away in challaborough bay, ive been coming here since I was 6 years old and im now 21 so been coming for 15 years now. Ive had some amazing memory's here and it feels like a 2nd home. Its a beautiful place very peaceful, great what ever your age is. The best part are the roads on the way there there beautiful real country roads. I must admit that the entertainment could be a better as it was a bit repetitive. They used to do some quality entertainment like "stars in your eyes" and they had some real good comedians. The entertainment wasn't terrible just could of been a tad better. But that never really bothered me to be honest as its lovely there. If you have never been there before and your thinking of trying it please do you wont want to leave. I will be back next year!!!!! The food was also gorgeous! And great value for money.

Room Tip: The new 8 berth comorant caravans are lovely!!

Got back yesterday from staying at Park Deans Challaborough Bay Park, what a beautiful place to stay. We had a really lovely 8 berth caravan in a nice quiet spot, with a nice stroll to beach, pool and club. Our grandkids loved the club with Sid & Lizzie and the Park Dean Rangers were very friendly, entertainment was ok. There is no phone signal which for us was a bonus just used phone boxes to ring family. The waterfront bar is the perfect location over looking the stunning beach and food was very good. The only complaint is the take away on site, not very clean and food not cooked to standard, didn't spoil our holiday just a tip for anyone else. Lovely walks to Burgh Island. This was a perfect holiday and we would love to come back.

Just got back having spent 4 nights in a privately rented caravan. Caravan was modern, but not clean at all. Bedding was awful, used our sleeping bags that we had taken with us as we were spending a night with friends in Dartmouth as it was regatta week. The campsite was fine, a great spot. Did not use the club, just waterfront bar. Great view, did not eat there though. Tried fryer tucks on last day, food was not amazing. Jacket pot was microwaved and fish was all batter. Paid £21 for potato, 2 pieces of fish with beans and portion of chips. Great view though, sun was shining. Good weather all week. Great beaches a little further out, bigbury and bantham. Will be back though its a lovely place to stay but as always the weather makes your holiday

Stayed with some friends there for this past week and very happy.
They have good facilities and the food is great value from breakfast to lunch.
I have seen better beaches but this do not spoil a nice break away.
