Folloing a particulary greuling ferry trip to Guernsey we went in search of the Sunnycroft Hotel which my party had booked for a tow-night stay. We found that the "hotel", which can only be described as a basic B&B, was only accessible via large number of steps. There is absolutely no parking facilities, and if one is dropped off at the nearby 'upper road' you have 52 steep steps down to get the hotel. Park at the bottom road and you have 102 steps to climb up to reach the hotel. This may be fine for 100% fit back-packers but for middle-aged ladies, dragging bags up or down such a large number of steps is unacceptable. We arrived at the hotel entract at 6pm, and were initially impressed by the fact that the hotel was warm and appeared inviting. This however, was short lived, because the owber of the hotel refused to help with our baggage. "I don't do bags" was his response. Having dragged our bags a fair distance and down stairs to reach the hotel, I was not impressed by the lack of co-peration by the hotel owner. Rooms are fine, but a little small and could do with a face-lift. Some rooms have fine views, but others do not.
In short, if you are elderly, if you cannot manage your baggage easily, or if you have difficulty in making stairs.... forget it.
