“Something different”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2014

The Taster Menu is very good - tasty, unusual, satisfying, but not too much. Staff very friendly and well-informed. It is a real pleasure to try something different and we always enjoy our time there.

“Impeccable food and service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2014 via mobile

Finally we take a break from our week's Guernsey Activity Holiday: a Half Marathon, a Special Forces level assault course programme, coastal power walks and restorative meditation. To rest up, celebrate our last evening and 43rd wedding anniversary we visit HoJo's with our family (Guernsey Chapter) for Japanese food.

We had popcorn, scallops, deep fried chicken, baked aubergine, sushi, sashimi, lamb cutlets with broad beans, soba noodles, pac choi with bean sprouts, seared sirloin of beef and steamed rice, accompanied by a delightful single grape Malbec. For dessert? A superb chocolate pot with an espresso.

The service was unobtrusive, sensitive, anticipatory and of the highest order. The food was sublime. The conversation? Lively, attentive, entertaining, funny, relevant and instructive. Forty-three years on we have built a family: three sons with three intelligent, attractive partners and four equally delightful grandchildren between them. HoJo's and all it had to offer more than lived up to the occasion. If I absolutely had to point out a shortcoming? The ratio of pac choi to bean sprouts should be revisited - double the pac choi and halve the bean sprouts, perhaps?

First time in Hojos, we had a taster menu one weekday nite recently. Place was almost full but the service was excellent and efficient. All the dishes were explained to you. They were something we never had tried before, but were very tasty and would be happy to have again. Staff very friendly. Definitely go back again.

“Evening with friends”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2014

We meet up as a group of friends every 6 months and this time in Guernsey. The view was to have a Japanese meal so we picked Hojos as it had good reviews. We decided to let the manager pick a selection of dishes for us and I am glad we did we had about 5 courses and the food was beautiful, quickly served and efficient as a restaurant. Not busy and easy to find by the waterfront but can take the taxi if you want. It is a nice restaurant whether you like Japanese food or not aaas there is a wide choice on offer. Suggest you let them choose for you and find one of the seats at the back they are nice to view from.

“Very Friendly Staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2014

We called in here by chance on Saturday 19/04/14, as we were just about to walk back to where we were staying. It looked very inviting so we popped in and ordered a bottle of Pinot Grigio. We sat outside which the staff thought was very strange due to the weather, and they offered to turn on the heaters etc. We eventually did go inside and finished our wine in the lovely surroundings. This is a lovely setting and although we didn';t eat the food we saw looked fabulous. Great staff, so rare these days
