This German hospital shows what life was like during the war, it brings home the comforts we have now and makes one very grateful for what we have, it is worth a visit.

“Worth a visit!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2013

Very historical attraction. It is very damp and cool inside so make sure you take a jacket if dampness bothers you.

I like how the the attraction has not had any major restorations, it gives it an authentic look and feel. Definitely worth a visit.

“Not for the faint hearted.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2013

We have visited this venue on a number of occasions over many years. And always find something "new" to see. Even though the exhibit doesn't change greatly. When visiting. Adhere to the signs that tell you that it is quite cool and damp inside. It is....It is not dark or dank. But it is quite cool. Some of the images, both actual and implied are very moving. Well worth a visit

“Very interesting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2013

During our Northern European voyage we ported at St. Peter Port on Guernsey, one of the Channel Islands. What a surprise, I didn't realize it would be so interesting and nice. I signed up for a tour of the island, one titled "The German Military Occupation of Guernsey".

Similar to stories in most of the Baltic countries, once again, a German occupation story. The NAZIs occupied Guernsey for 5 years. We visited an underground German hospital and a German occupation museum. A very nice island with beautiful homes, no wonder the Germans liked it. They say that most of those Germans who were there for a good part of the occupation were looked upon with disdain by those forces on the fronts, for having it so good, but toward the end of the war most were moved to the Eastern Front (Russia) where almost all perished. That included the four top commanders.

The German Underground Hospital is situated deep within the Guernsey countryside. This complex is a series of tunnels commissioned by the German High Command for use as a hospital and dug painstakingly out of the hillside mostly by Russian prisoners of war. Don't miss this if you visit Guernsey.

“SPOOKY”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2013

My second visit and I was definately not alone! Or maybe its just my psychic tendancies picking up on the atmospherics of the place. My partner did comment however at how even he could feel the presence of the wounded in certain parts. it remains relatively untouched since the germans left it.
