Nice hotel and rooms have been recently re-done with new bathrooms etc. The food is also very good. Stayed a couple of times and would come back. Paid £72 B& B and would consider staying if they asked for more than that for a single. It is near the airport and so you can hear the planes which I think stop at around 9pm and start just after 6am! Nice people too.

A charming Victorian country house style hotel, situated in fairly open country about halfway between St. Peters Port and the airport. Apparently it is owned by the same people who own the much larger four star St. Pierre Park golf hotel.

The rooms are very nice and clean with tea/coffee facilities, TV and a very nice bathroom with a bathtub.

If you stay on the top floor, you get can see the sea and the surrounding countryside. When I stayed in July, it was bit hot up there, even in moderate weather; Fortunately though, you can open the windows and the reception will provide you with plug in fans on request.

The lounge areas are relaxed. quiet and comfortable with what I can only describe as a sort of up-market air of plain understated graciousness, perhaps like one would imagine the reception room of a large Victorian vicarage; The sort of place where you half expect to see Thomas Hardy or Anthony Trollope sitting in an armchair reading a newspaper.

The restaurant is light and airy in a conservatory type annexe, The service is excellent, the wine list is reasonably priced and the food is superb.

The hotel has it's own attached leisure centre with gym, sauna, massage treatments, a large heated indoor pool with huge glass windows and plenty of loungers (inside and out) for possible all year round sunbathing. Luckily enough for me, hardly anyone was using the pool and the loungers and I had this huge area virtually all to myself. Although the serious part of the gym with the machines looked very busy.

There is plenty of parking space and also conference facilities but unfortunately there is only one internet access point for non-conference guests and that wasn't useable when I was staying there.

In summary, this a great little hotel and one of the best three star rated hotels that I have stayed in. The food in particular is outstanding and excellent value. The place seems to be run like clockwork with frendly, attentive staff.

Have recently spent 4 nights at this hotel. We had a very enjoyable stay with the staff being very pleasant. The hotel is in an ideal location to explore the island (would recommend you get a car to do this) and is only 5mins from the airport.
The rooms were quite modern and very clean.
The restaurant has an extensive menu where you can chose from a la carte, set menu or bar type meals. The both times we ate there was very nice, with attentive staff. We would also recommend The Deerhound Inn which is on the same road as the hotel, just before the airport.
The hotel pool was very nice. It was good to relax poolside - the hotel provided daily papers and magazines for guests to read.
Overall would recommend and would stay there again.

“Would go back again and again!”

La Trelade Country House Hotel

Just come back from a 4 night Easter stay at La Trelade and I just felt that I had to write about the great time we had. For a 3 star hotel, this place is great.

We stayed in an executive room for a bit more cash, which had a lovely four-poster bed in it. The room was a great size with lots of wardrobe and drawer space, a pair of lounge chairs and a coffee table, TV and tea and coffee making facilities (tea (fruit, mint, earl grey & regular), coffee, hot chocolate and shortbread biscuits) all replenished every day. The bathroom was a good size too with plenty of towels.

Breakfast was also great, with the usual selection of cereal, fruit, pastries, continental cheeses, hams etc. and a variety of cooked options including smoked salmon scrambled eggs or poached eggs on toast etc. We had the full english everyday and it was very good quality and kept us going all day whilst we roamed around the Guernsey countryside!

We didn't use the Health Spa but they have a pool, sauna, gym and a lady who comes in at weekends to do massages etc. all of which is included in the room cost (apart from the massages which were half the price that I've paid at other hotels before so seem good value).

We ate in the hotel restaurant for one of the nights and again the food was superb. They do a set 3 course menu which changes everyday, as well as an a la carte and a bar snacks menu so plenty to choose from. We had the set menu at £17.95 each (inc. coffee), this included dishes like monkfish in parma ham, roast pork loin, smoked duck starters and fruit cheesecakes and chocolate tarts for pudding.

The staff at the hotel were very chatty and helpful. Most of the waiting staff and reception were of Eastern European orgin, not sure where, but they all spoke good English and were very prompt with service so no complaints.

In summary, I'm very pleased we chose this hotel, it surpassed my expectations and if we ever return to Guernsey for a holiday I will have no hesitation at booking La Trelade again or recommending it to friends.

The only thing I would say for some people is that like a lot of the island you can hear the planes going over head but this didn't bother me and my husband and didn't disturb our sleep as we didn't start to notice them until we stirred at about 7:30 - 8 am when we were planning on getting up anyway. If you don't want that, and late sleepers may not, then you need a hotel in St Peter Port and not St Martins as the airport is right in St Martins. I would not let this put you off La Trelade though, invest in some ear plugs as this hotel is worth it.

“Excellent!”

I and my wife stayed here during the Easter for a hiking/cycling break. The hotel is in the "countryside," so it's very quiet. Our double room was very spacious and clean. The employees were friendly and very professional. The hotel's restaurant, the Orangerie was the best part. The food is great and it's excellent value for money.
