“tired hotel?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2012

I was a little worried by somebodys very negative review of this hotel which I read 3 weeks ago.Thankfully we decided to make our own minds up and booked for a week on the 20th august this year. The staff were very friendly and very obliging making sure our rooms were cleaned and refreshed every day.The breakfast was buffet style with every choice you would want and we were topped up with tea and coffee whenever we wanted it.The bed was absolutely huge and comfy enough.the only moan I would have would be the lack of air-conditioning.Would stay again next time we visit.

Room Tip: There are no lifts so guests who are physically challenged in any way may find upper floors too much...

Thank you for your review.

We do have many low floor bedrooms and also lift access from reception which helps serve our main north wing of the hotel. Lift access may be requested at time of booking should this be important for you.

The Norfolk Lodge Hotel has seen much investment and updating over the years and receives many positive reviews. We do not have air-conditioning in our bedrooms as most bedrooms are away from road noise and this facility is rare in Jersey due to the moderating influence of our island maritime location - temperatures are very rarely excessive, especially at night.

We are always pleased to receive customer feedback and thank you for your positive comments.

Just home from 5 night stay. Excellent value for money. The staff are a lovely bunch of hard working people who never passed without a smile and a hello. They go out of their way to please, you do not always see such standard of service in higher rated hotels!. The food was very nice and plentiful. We ate in the bar on a couple of evenings and on one occasion our pepper sauce to go with the steak was forgotten. Our food was taken back to keep warm while the sauce was made and the chef came to the table to apologise. Hence we were not charged for the sauce.
Our room was spotless, as is all of the hotel, and we had a lovely fruit basket in our room on arrival as it was our honeymoon. We had dinner at the sister hotel "The Royal" one evening which was lovely, again excellent service. We look forward to our next stay!!

We spent a week in The Norfolk Lodge Hotel. The staff are absolutely lovely. Nothing is too much trouble. The Hotel is comfortable but doesn't have air conditioning, so the rooms can get very warm I would imagine. Thankfully even though it was August the weather wasn't too hot, so our room was ok. Only 50 car parking spaces but we managed to park all week without a problem.

We booked this at the last minute not quite knowing what to expect. Good location with parking. Rooms were tired but clean and the beds were comfy. Good choice of breakfast and the evening meal was lovely with a menu change every day. All the staff were fantastic, very polite and most helpful which makes a real change. We booked half board and found this fantastic value. Evening entertainment dreadful, even for older folk. Our children aged 10 & 13 couldn't watch!(neither did we). We had a room overlooking the road and found this noisy so didn't sleep much. Overall though, great value!

Room Tip: Not at the front if you don't like noise

Thank you for your comments and we are delighted that you found us to be great value for money.

We occupy a large site with the majority of bedrooms set away from any road noise etc.. We are happy to receive requests for quieter bedroom at the time of booking should this be a concern.

Guest evening entertainment within our bar area is by its very nature going to be more to the liking of some guests than to other guests. We do also receive many positive comments and tailor our offering in mind of guest feedback. Thank you for your views and opinions which are appreciated.

We had a good short stay at this hotel. The staff made us feel very welcome from the start. The bedroom was a nice size, and very clean and tidy. We had clean towels every day, and there was always enough tea/coffee/milk left in the room. A good choice at breakfast and also we had a very nice evening meal there one evening. The hotel was a good 15 minute walk from the sea front, but No. 19 bus from Liberation station which goes through the ferry port - take you near to the hotel. We certainly stay at this hotel again and plan to next year.

I stayed here for 5 nights but was woken up every morning at 5:30 by the kitchen which was right next to my room (avoid Room 2 if you want a good nights sleep).

All the staff were really friendly and helpful and got to know me over the period of my stay. The food was ok and there was a varied menu every night.

The only real downside was the entertainment which was pretty poor - definitely more suited to the elderly traveller!

We are pleased that you found us to be a great hotel. Thank you.

Please accept our apology for the disturbance at 5.30am. This should not have occurred. Very much against our specific instruction, the delivery of bread was being made to an entrance near to your particular bedroom by an external supplier. We had instructed the supplier to deliver to an area well away from any guest accommodation - this system is now back in place and your feedback is appreciated to prevent disturbance for future guests.

Guest evening entertainment within our bar area is by its very nature going to be more to the liking of some guests than to other guests. We do also receive many positive comments and tailor our offering in mind of guest feedback. Thank you for your views and opinions which are appreciated.

Thank you for your time in posting your review and for your valued custom at the Norfolk Lodge Hotel.

this was my 3rd visit to the hotel, the only thing different was the manager had changed, and this was noticeable. before the manager was a strong presence in the hotel and a good one, i dont recall seeing the new manager while i was there. like another reviewer i found the spooning off of a frothy head on the stella strange and the soft drinks were nearly always warm. a cooling system in the store room would help this. the location is perfect for me, as was the service. the house keepers did an excellent job cleaning the room daily, and the restaurant manager run the restaurant perfectly.
