Lovely, friendly hotel. Very clean and good sized rooms. Staff were very helpful, nothing was too much trouble, Happy to let us take dogs. Food was lovely. Brought to room at no extra cost.
I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

This bed and breakfast sits on a road a couple of miles to the North of St Helier, near to a bus stop (although it is a very pleasant walk in good weather).

Although only having a three star rating we found the bed and breakfast very comfortable with clean rooms and a lovely peaceful setting. The B&B also has some nice local character unlike some chain hotels.

Breakfast was very good and there is also a bar and a restaurant which we found to do good food. Overall well worth it for a short stay in Jersey.

The Oaklands Lodge Hotel sits on a relatively large self-contained site inland on the A8 road out of St Hellier. Although self-styled as a hotel it is really a restaurant plus a pub plus a lounge area and a facility offering 10 guest bedrooms on the upper floor. It was built and the layout subsequently altered several decades ago. It provides easy access to the motorist and an ample car park.

The ‘Red Rose’ restaurant is a pleasant area fitted out in a style reminiscent of hotels in the 1950-1960 era. The menu, al a carte or set menu is reasonably priced and of adequate quality.

The ‘Blacksmiths Forge’ too takes its styling cue from the same era when ‘oldie world’ dark wood furniture was in vogue. The menu here is a little more comprehensive and the portions, whilst not heroic tend to be ample.

The ten bedrooms are located on the upper floor, are a little ‘tired’ and are of Travelodge layout. The two bedrooms that my wife and I saw were both very clean. However, the sound insulation between the rooms left something to be desired. The dividing walls between the rooms were evidently constructed in the days before flat screen televisions were mounted on them. Not a problem if you wish to listen into next door’s programmes. Otherwise, don’t aim to go to bed before the occupants next door have finished their evening viewing.

The staff, customer facing and 'behind the scenes' and nearly all Portuguese, were unfailingly polite and helpful. Particularly noteworthy was the high standard of service offered by the lady who served on at breakfast time. However, don’t be late. It finishes at 9.00am.

All in all, a two star residence well worth a three star rating.

Room Tip: Those facing the front of the hotel are subject to road noise and the chatter of those leaving the r...

We arrived at the Oaklands on the 3rd September. Couldn't have asked for anything better, thanks to the wonderful hosts and staff, lovely room with a view over the fields at the rear. Excellent breakfast with plenty of variation. Bar food on site had plenty of choice and was also popular with the locals, so book a table from thursday onwards. We went their for a special occassion, and were left a special gift in the room by the management ( many thanks ). Can't wait for our next trip

Room Tip: There are rooms overlooking the field at the back or over the car park at the front of the premises

As others have already mentioned, easily much better than 2*
We really enjoyed staying here & making it our base in Jersey. Our room was very comfortable, spotlessly clean & breakfast always delicious.
They have a large car park with two restaurants on site, popular with local people.
We enjoyed the informal feel at Oaklands, quiet location & the use of free internet, thankyou!

Very good staff service, nice no frills rooms just the thing you need if you are using this hotel as a base. You will need a car if staying here but thats not a bad point because you generally need a car to get round Jersey and car parking is not an issue. Breakfast has a nice comprehensive menu and the food is nice and served quickly by a friendly waitress. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting simple easy accommodation without any hassle. It should defiantly be a 3 star hotel though.

Dont be put off that this is only a 2 star hotel, the room was very clean and spacious and staff very pleasant.
The breakfast was very good, all served at your table by a very pleasant waitress.
Though we did not use the The Blacksmiths arms that was joined to the hotel, there menu looked very good.
Plenty of parking, as i think you will need a car its a fair walk to St Helier.
I have stayed in guest houses etc before in Jersey, but honestly can say this hotel is really good value.
