“Short stay in the De L'etang”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2014

Had a great stay at the De L'etang the room was very clean & the beds comfortable. The hosts & staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was excellent and although we didn't eat there in the evening the restaurant was always quite busy and the Greek food looked good. There is no onsite parking but there are two car parks within a five minute walk.

We were met by the owners John and Rebecca with warm smiles and a free drink from the bar on arrival (not a bad start :-). The hotel is directly opposite the outdoor swimming pool, we were in room 12 and had a great view of the sea. The room was well equiped with plenty of hanging space and hangers. The toilet and shower were small but the water nice and hot and powerfull, the bed was comfortable and the linen and towells clean. A kettle and mugs are provided but you will need to bring your own milk and tea bags. The room was more than adequate for our needs. The hosts are very nice and extremely welcoming this is reflected in the fact that many locals use the hotel bar, they too were chatty and friendly and happy to share the free cooked sausages and prawns that were brought out to the patio for those that were drinking there. The breakfast was lovely, quality ingredients and cooked well. The hotel is the other side of the tunnel so not conveneient to walk to st Helier town centre but there are restaurants close by. There is no parking at the hotel but if you take the 1st left past it there is a public car park at the end of the road (no more than 5 mins away). We enjoyed our stay at De L'etang and would return.

Room Tip: Room 12 overlooks the sea

We arrived and were shown to our room which had a sea view. However it was over the bar and loud music was played very late into the night every night. The rooms were clean but very dated. The cost of the weekend was very expensive. Breakfast was nothing special. Won't stay again.

just back from a short break in Jersey and alll I can say its the best hotel ive ever stayed in 62 years of life, service and cleanliness the tops staff and food faultless owners Rebecca and John a real joy to meet,it must be good as lots of the locals use the very well stocked and bright bar, where the prices are the same as the pubs, the Bistro is first class and very well run with superp food, the only fault was I had to come home.

Room Tip: all good a sea view is a sea view as its right on the front

We stayed here for a 2 night weekend 'Rugby' break. The hotel was clean and tidy throughout. The toilet and shower room was a bit on the small size, but functional. Shower was very good. The breakfast was very good but the table was a bit on the small size for 4 adults to have breakfast. The town centre and bus station are only a 15min walk away. Overall it is very good value for money.

Room Tip: Best chance to get a room with a sea view is to ask for a twin, not a double.

We stayed here following trip advisor information and were not disappointed. We had the front room on the second floor with the balcony and woke to the waves crashing on the beach just across the road every morning. Yes, the road was busy at certain times, particularly from 7am onward but it did not deter from the comfortable and clean bed or our sleep. Breakfast was everything we expected and all staff were pleasant and extremely helpful at all times. The owners are attentive and make a great effort to ensure that your stay is special and always had a kind and personal word with all those resident at the hotel. Centrally positioned and a short walk to all main shops. We had read that the bar becomes noisy at times but having stayed there for 6 nights did not have one disturbed night. One small down point as mentioned in other reviews are the provision of a kettle and cups in every room but no tea, coffee or milk provided but after all the bar is just down stairs and open as long as you need it so improvise!!
