Beautiful location, most food seemed to be processed, won't go back there in a hurry

“Agree totally with 3gees”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2010

Was in for lunch last week as well. Menu reads well and is enticing. However, staff seem to be given specific tasks which they cannot abandon with the result that they just walk past when you want service. For example, there was a guy replacing tea bags and coffee behind the counter while a queue of 10 or so customers were waiting to place their order (including myself) with the only person who seemed authorised to do this. Something is fundamentally wrong.

In saying that it didn't stop lots of customers using the shack - but i would doubt this would encourage them to return.

Prices are ok. But this is Jersey, and as an outsider, in general i get the impression that people put up with inflated prices for some reason??

What potential this place has - if only it could get its act together! Needs to improve food quality (less prawns and other types of seafood please!), service and staff who can cammunicate, before i could recommend i'm afraid.

Final rant - please clean you waffle maker - its filthy!

“Crab Shack - fun, honest value, honest menu and welcoming”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2010

This place has a view and setting to die for and is positioned in St Brelade's Bay right next to its cousin, the self righteous Oyster Box.

The menu is wide and pleasing -- its a cafe with no pretensions of being a restaurant, yet the breadth of choice and quality of food, served with a willingness that other establishments of the island would do well to match, its outstanding.

Oh, and with pink champagne at £32 a bottle and a 500ml bottle of mineral water at £1.50 its outstanding value.

“Food Served All Day - what a load of rubbish!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2010

Can't really rate the food as we never got to try it! Sat down outside just before 3, one of the waiters cleared the table for us, leaving us salt, pepper etc on the table for our meal. Went up to the counter around 3pm, had to wait a few minutes while gormless staff members walked past. Finally served and were told kitchen closed at 3. It was now 3.03. Guy serving would not back down and was really quite rude and abrupt. So we left and went to little cafe a few doors up, which was lovely, and actually a lot cheaper. We pointed out the food served all day sign outside to the guy who wouldn't serve us and he did apologise but too late.
