“Food delicious - staff friendly”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2011 via mobile

We called on Sunday and they were fully booked. We recalled on Monday and was not disappointed. I had half roast chicken with garlic ad Rosemary and chips. My partner has pasta and sticky toffee pudding both was very nice. For dessert I had tiramssu. This was amazing. The staff were really friendly and the drinks were good value for money.

“This could be really good - but not with the current staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2011

Let's start with the good points. This is a decent restaurant, and the food is very good. I've been before and can vouch for their pizzas, but today was not a pizza day (daughter was celebrating a place at university). The seafood starter platter was very tasty, daughter enjoyed her lamb shank and mash, and my rare steak was actually rare and really nicely presented - the chips are well up to spec.

So why only three stars? The key issue was with the waiting staff. They are not rude as such, but the group we had were totally disorganised. We were asked five times in quick succession by three different staff whether we were ready to order drinks - the fifth time after we had ordered. We also were asked whether we wanted desserts when we already had the bill and were attempting to pay it. That level of disorganisation is potentially damaging to the business - we could have ordered puddings and walked out without paying for them, and the managers would have been none the wiser. And if we were getting multiple staff - were there tables that were getting no service at all?

If companies like Pizza Hut can get the idea of having one server responsible for a table, surely a company that positions itself several niches above that can train their staff properly?

“Boring bland food”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2011

I went for lunch at the Tree House with my wife and kids a few days ago. They advertised a play area for children but charge o£1.20 to use this play area, even if you are having lunch there.

The food was prepackaged rubbish we had ribs and a pasta dish. That said the pizzas looked nice.

“Very unwelcoming”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2011

I went for lunch at the Tree House with my wife and grandson a few days ago, largely because they advertised a play area for children. When we arrived we discovered that they make a charge of £1.20 to use this play area, even if you are having lunch there. We asked a man to confirm that this was the case and he said that it was, in a very off-hand manner. Although my grandson is only six he eats as much as an adult at lunch-time so they lost out on the profit of three lunches, plus a couple of drinks, all for the sake of £1.20. How short-sighted!
