“Home from Home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2010

Estelle and Charlie the Dog as always gave us a fantastic welcome, hot pie and cream just waiting for us. Nothing is too much trouble for Estelle. Lovely relaxed atmosphere in a beautiful house and gardens. Fresh and bright surroundings, in the chilly days the house is warm and cosy. Since out last visit Estelle has added a conservatory which adds even more charm to her beautiful home. Not only is it Estelle and Charlie's home it is also home to her many visitors throughout their stay. Estelle has a wealth of local knowledge and if she can't help she always knows someone who does know. The area of Glin is charming and has a couple of local bars nearby where the residents also make you feel very welcome. Give the bar called 'The Rale McCoy a visit where the talk of the local team is always entertaining!! Can't wait to book again soon

Estelle is a lovely hostess and greeted us with tea and coffee after a long day on the road.
Make sure to spend time in the garden and sun room. You would do well by adding the town of Glin, the Castle and O'Driscoll's to your travel plan.

Beautiful accommodations and wonderful service. We told Estelle our schedule ahead of time, and she was ready and waiting for us with some hot tea and apple tart+ice cream. She helped us with our schedule and made us feel so welcome. Also, the breakfast in the morning was fabulous, and it was the only place we found with real coffee in all of Ireland. There's also a sunroom and garden one can sit in. I would highly recommend this place. However, do keep in mind that it is an hour away from Limerick.

The location is quiet and far enough from major centres to get a country feel. The town is quiet with a few pubs and a good take away. The room was spacious, with a good ensuite, the shower was the best we used in Ireland (hot and strong!). There are some good local sights and the 'Ring of Dingle' is acheivable in a day. We also visited the Rock of Cashel and Cahir castle in a single day trip. Estelle is a great host and proveded us with ample local information, plus home made apple pie and coffee on arrival.

My family and i just recently returned from our vacation in ireland. Our two night stay at o Driscolls bed and breakfast was without doubt the most memorable part of our trip. We had originally booked for one night only, but enjoyed it so much that we stayed a second. Estelle is a true professional and it shows, our family room was large, very nicely furnished with a beautiful ensuite bathroom - spotlessly clean! The food was absolutely
delicious!!! There are several very quaint bars and taverns within walking distance, one is just next door! the river shannon was just a stones throw from the b+b with miles and miles of lovely walks, fishing etc. A jewel!!!! Cant wait to go back! 10 out of 10.

Wonderful Bed and Breakfast! Estelle anticipated our schedule and had tea and an apple tart ready for us when we checked in! We felt so welcome, and well-taken care of! The house itself is so cheery and is complete with a sun-room! and great garden! Also, the coffee provided with breakfast comes in an actual french press. it's the only "real" coffee we found in Ireland!

Do realize that this Hostel is actually in Tarbert/Glin village - not Limerick.

Spotless, very comfortable room. The best breakfast we had in Ireland, with local foods and Estelle's own preserves. Estelle is very accommodating, and helpful with touring suggestions. Easy day trip to Cliffs of Moher, Aran Islands, and the Burrens via Tarbert ferry. Dingle is also an easy day trip.

  • Liked — Comfort and cleanliness, breakfast, Estelle
  • Disliked — All rooms are upstairs; no restaurant in walking distance
