“Remarkable B'n'B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2014

Would definitely stay here again when going back to Glendalough. Everyone was so nice and friendly, very accommodating. The room was more like a little outhouse, beautifully designed with everything you could need, with nice cookies and tea/white tea and a TV and an unbelievably soft bed. The connecting Wicklow Heather restaurant is fantastic, with lovely decor and a Writer's Room filled with manuscripts and first editions of seminal Irish works. Great value. A perfect place to stay for enjoying Glendalough.

This is a very comfortable B & B with spotless white bed linen on the beds. It is more like having a small apartment and the biscuits provided with the kettle and tea or coffee were out of the ordinary. The view from the window over the Wicklow mountains and the valley is beautiful. The only possible drawback for some would be that one has to go out to the nearby Wicklow Heather Restaurant for a delicious breakfast with a great choice on the menu but it is also served until midday. My husband was not long out of hospital having broken his hip and he had no difficulty getting from House to restaurant on his newly acquired crutches.

Stopped here with a group tour to Glendalough and Powerscourt Gardens. Good-sized establishment, easily accommodated our group of 70+. Friendly staff and efficient service - must be accustomed to doing group lunches as well as managing individual patrons. Food was simple but hearty.

My wife and I stayed over night here after a meal at teh Wicklow Heather 100m from the B&B.We were greeted in a very friendly but not over familiar host who chatted with us and offered us tea and cake It had all that is required of a B&B and some. Clean warm and comfortable are a base from which I would expect to start and the Heather House didn't disappoint. Take time to admire the views down the valley towards Rathdrum. A sitting room with a variety of books was a pleasant spot to idle an hour or two relaxing and consuming the aforementioned tea and cake. I will return here again .

Room Tip: Arrive early and enjoy the views. Look for a room with a view to the rear of the house Laragh is se...

I can recommend this B&B to anyone looking for a relaxing home from home.

My wife and I were visiting our son who is studying in Dublin and we were looking for a comfortable bed and breakfast with space to relax and catch up with our son away from town and celebrate his birthday.

While the apartments look nice they didn't really provide access to the common sitting room that we were looking for (to sit, read, chat and relax) but we were quickly accommodated in the main house which has a really comfortable sitting room. The panoramic view and sunset from this room was truly spectacular. We had two evening meals at the Wicklow Heather restaurant (as well as breakfasts) and enjoyed the food and atmosphere very much - nice to be able to walk back to the B&B rather than drive.

The bedrooms were comfortable and the owners and staff very friendly and helpful. They made a bit of a fuss about our son's birthday which was very much appreciated.

Room Tip: You have a choice between rooms in the house or apartments in the grounds - I prefer the former for...

Spent 3 nights in our old favourite in Laragh. We were in one of the excellent apartments at the back of the Heather house, number 12.After all the talk of storms etc. we had great weather and plenty of walks from the house. The standard of accommodation has been maintained or if anything improved. After a day walking it was great to get back to a warm comfortable spotless base.Breakfast was top class "whatever you want" was available and the staff friendly and helpful. We had dinner in the restaurant on the 3 nights the food was excellent and service matched.Great peace and comfort and would highly recommend these apartments. All adds up to why we have returned and recommended heather house over the years
