“Charming, cosy and welcoming”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2014

Lovely B&B set in beautiful surroundings, just 20 minutes away from Glendalough. We arrived in the evening after having spent the day walking in the Wicklow mountains. Catriona and Shane are perfect hosts - very friendly and welcoming, offering good advice and taking care of our restaurant reservation. Tea or coffee with homemade cakes offered upon arrival. Delicious homemade breakfast the following morning (with so much choice!) The bedroom was very cosy and comfortable with a gorgeous view over the river. I thoroughly recommend!

This is really a home from home. Set in very beautiful surroundings, this is a perfect place to get away from it all. The room was warm and spacious with very comfortable beds, and there is also a lovely lounge downstairs with comfortable sofas and a fire. The breakfast surpassed expectations. Overall, a fantastic place to stay, which we have already recommended to friends.

We felt very welcome and at home at Ashton House. Fresh coffe/tea and cake on arrival, Catriona is a great host. The whole place is spotless! The house is right by the meeting of the waters, we had a room overlooking the river, which was great. We had a good sleep. Breakfast was tasty and homemade.

The only thing i didn't love was waking up to the smells of the kitchen in our room. But other than that our stay was lovely.

Room Tip: The double room overlooking the river is great. I would want a top floor next time as we did hear th...

Traveled from County Cavan to Glendalough and stayed in Ashton House at the Meeting of the Waters. This B&B is really lovely, recently updated, bathrooms large and very nice. Room size was fine, looked out onto the river which in the morning was just brilliant. Breakfast was delicious (loved the tomato relish, I talked about it several times the rest of our trip) with tea and coffee and baked goods from Catrina's mother upon arrival, really delicious. Shane was a wonderful host, lots of suggestions and helpful tips, all we had to do was ask for anything. I'm sorry we did not stay longer, it was really lovely.

Stayed here for 2 nights when attending a wedding in the area, from arrival to departure Catriona and Shane couldn't do enough for us. The room was clean spacious and comfortable, the house itself is in a beautiful location and is a great base to explore the region. Breakfast cooked fresh and plenty of choice. We are normally hard to please but can not find any fault at all. Catriona and Shane are lovely people and I would highly recommend anyone considering coming to area to stay here. Great price too when you consider what the hotels are charging!!!

Ashton house was our first stop in Ireland and it was wonderful. Catriona greeted us with warm tea and cookies. She gave us a great overview of the area and recommendations. The property is gorgeous and Meeting of the Waters is a very special spot in Ireland. Our rooms were clean, comfortable, and quiet. The breakfast was absolutely delicious! Catriona and Shane are great hosts. Thank you!
