“Nice stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2012

Spent 2 nights in this hotel and had the one bedroom suite (will try and upload pics). The good points for me included the ample parking, bar & restaurant and the onsite spa. The hotel was fairly busy with a conference of sorts (these places always attract those) but service throughout was good and friendly.
The hotel is about 3-5 minutes drive outside of sligo centre (depending on traffic lights) - it's probably a good 30 minute walk but others can confirm! On the road to Rosses point it's easy to find.
The room was large and inlcuded a walk through hallway into a large bedroom, bathroom and large lounge area. I thought it was odd that the bedroom doesn't have an internal door but the lounge does - thought it would be the other way around. Also odd that the TV in the bedroom is massive and the one in the lounge is half the size..? The room was fairly clean and I've included pics of the amenities which included a Nespresso machine - the reason I wouldn't call it 100% clean is that the furniture isn't wearing well - whoever procures furniture for Raddison Blu chains should look at the life-cycle of these things - it may have cost less to initially furnish but it's looking weary and will need replacing soon.
The bed was disappointing - at first sight it looked massive but had a very obvious crease of two beds wedged together down the middle. It was also hard although the pillows were comfortable.
Business travellers are well catered for; wi-fi is free and excellent - one of the fasted and best I've experienced; there are also small touches in the room which show thought - I've never seen so many electrical points and having both 2 and 3-pin sockets is a great idea.
The bathroom is large but strangely towel rails aren't where you need them and the overall design seems odd - massive shower without a fixed head, etc.
Entertainment is a bit poor; about 14 channels mainly terrestrial in nature and a rotating movie each night - although there is a 12 screen cineplex in Sligo town.
Breakfast was well presented and there's loads of choice (although crispy bacon should be that - seemed a bit wet in the server..lol) - I also ate in the bar which has a standard bar menu and was lovely.
The room had 2 main air con units which were welcome as the first night was very stuffy, but I'd echo the frustration of other reviews that the ground floor window openings are too small - it's clearly for security and necessary but does make the air con more needed than it probably should be.
There's an ice machine at the end of the corridor and the overwhelming smell of chlorine from the swimming pool reminds you that the spa is down there too...lol
Overall this is a great place to stay - just maybe needs a bit of a refresh to be considered brilliant.

Great hotel, nice big room with lovely feel to it. The guy checking us in, i think he was called Tomasz or similar, made us feel welcome and was friendly and professional. The gym and health spa are great as well, and the two staff working there i didnt get their names were friendly and helpful as well.
The hotel is not in the centre of the town, but there isnt a great deal to the town anyway and for motorists it makes acess and parking much easier.
Just down the road is rosses point where we watched the sun set over the sea last night.
The breakfast was top notch as well.
All in all i can only recommend this hotel to you all. Thanks for a great stay.

We stayed with a group of friends for two nights at beginning of May.. Had good meal in bar on first night and excellent meal in restaurant on second night. Service was very good as was for breakfast.
Rooms very spacious and comfortable.
Very good atmosphere, but then again it was a bank holiday weekend
Very good value overall.

4 of us stayed here at the begining of May during the bank holiday weekend for 2 nights. Arrived at the hotel and there was a college grad on so it was very busy but it soon quieted down, stayed in the hotel for a meal that evening, very poor selection of food on the menu that eve, no pasta or the likes. Food was average, wine wasn't great either. Service was good though. The two evenings we spent in the bar were very quiet, it being a bank holiday I expected some entertainment or live music but there was nothing. Breakfast was nice too, great range of things there. Had a massage in the Solas spa, very nice experience altogether. Pool, sauna and steam room were great too, not too crowded. Overall it was a nice weekend but would have rathered a larger menu and some entertainment during the evening.

relaxing quiet location, hotel is nice but wouldnt say anything very special about it, had a fabulous massage in the spa would recommend a trip to that! food wasnt great for what we paid and i wouldnt rave about the service at the bar either seemed to be one girl looking after everyone not her fault it short staffed though, room wasnt as clean as would expect and furnishings bit worn eg chair furnishing etc staff were nice but not overly friendly
price was good and location as ive said in a peaceful area so had a good nights sleep and nice buffet breakfast was quite nice :)

Room Tip: ask for a room with a view out the back of the garden or to the front small view of rosses point

Overall this is a good hotel nothing special but my big concern is safety.. My husband and i were awoke at 5.30am by someone trying to get into our room.. we just thought someone was drunk and had got the wrong room.. few minutes later this person was back and he got the door opened thank god i had the chain on are he would have been in the room... this scared the S..t out of me and i couldnt get back to sleep. Next morning i went to reception and told them what had happen, they girl looked at me and said " this cant happen " as if i was making it up.. They said sorry and that was that. I just want to warn people the make sure u chain your door.....

Location is fabulous looking out onto the Atlantic. The hotel itself is typical of a new hotel. The beds were unreal comfortable and the room pristine. The pool was georgous and changing areas etc so clean. Breakfast buffet had everything too.

It cost only EUR12 for a taxi into Sligo town. Our taxi was delayed nearly a half hour. The receptions repeatly contacted the taxi company and rang ahead to our restaurant to let them know that we were delayed. Very, very helpful and certainly helped us to relax
The bar staff let us know where last orders were being called

Room Tip: Room 102 very quiet. No banging firedoor outside
