“Nice Family Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2012

Stayed in this hotel recently with a large group of family. The hotel is easily reached off the motorway and has a large car park. The public areas of the hotel are quite stylish and well maintained. The bar & restaurant are nicely appointed and the quality of the food served is good at a reasonable price. The breakfast however was disappointing.
We stayed in a standard room which was more then satisfactory for two adults and an infant. There was plenty of space for a cot.
As other reviewers have mentioned this is predominately a family hotel and was bursting at the seams with kids of all ages the weekend we were there. The staff are efficient without being overly friendly.
The rates that the hotel offers are excellent for the standard of the rooms. Its location is very close to Newgrange and Tayto park.
Would recommend for families, note really suited for a quiet romantic weekend away

Only downside was low ceilinged bar with multiple television sets blasting out soccer matches. Felt more like a ferry boat experience than 4 star hotel. Otherwise rooms very nice and pool etc nice to explore before breakfast.

We stayed in the Pillo hotel with a few other couples. The rooms are large, very nice, and beds are really comfortable. The lobby area is beautiful. They have a really good workout facility you can use if staying in the hotel (lots of workout equipment, classes, pool, hot tub, steam room, and sauna. The Red Bar is a nice place to grab a drink or chill out after a day of sight seeing in Ireland. The staff was really friendly. We did not eat in the restaurant on the hotel but did have a little lunch in the Red Bar. The food was good but not great. You wont go wrong if you stay at the Pillo.

Stayed here twice because I got a good deal. Relaxing and comfortable rooms. Bar food and restaurant food is lovely. The prosecco isn't bad either! Hotel always appeared clean and I`M found the staff frendly.

I was at at a wildlife conference in this hotel . I am vegan, so the catered no problem (sometimes not fully cooked but great attempt)

Rooms were large, it is a standard hotel so you know what you are getting.

70's retro finish

So if you want a standard hotel - with good rooms and service - and Ashbourne is where you want to be, then -try it out.

The Pillo is a bright modern hotel, the staff are very friendly and helpful. Children are welcomed throughout the hotel.
We had a great stay and enjoyed the swimming pool and had a great time at the nearby Tayto Park.
Will be back.
