“Modern With A Twist”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2013

This hotel has the most amazing restaurant, "The Loft". Food was superb and the staff were so child, and adult friendly. Could find no fault at all.
The rooms were basic but very clean and comfortable. Modern with an old world charm that is so hard to find

Restaurant food excellent again. Very substantial portions and well cooked. Good service. All staff very friendly. Breakfast was good, quite a good variety. Plenty of hot water as this was an issue last time. A new boiler has been installed.Very handy for travelling to Dublin.

Myself and my family stopped here for dinner after a long day at Tayto Park. We were shown to the bar and took a seat at a table in view of the large TV to watch the football match that was being shown. The food was lovely. The meatballs were great, quite filling though. The roast chicken was delicious. The scampi was lovely as was the burger. For dessert the Death By Chocolate wasn't as big and filling as I had expected but nor was it fresh. The profiteroles were nice, but they weren't fresh. Overall the dinner was great but the desserts let it down.

Dear customer,
Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I was delighted to hear you enjoyed your meal with us and the food great, with regards to the dessert I am sorry you did not find these enjoyable I have made a note of this and will discuss this with our kitchen as all our desserts are done on a daily basis so I am unsure as to what happened. Thank you for your custom and we hope to see you again here in the Ashboure House Hotel.
Kind regards,
Management

I've stayed here four times now over four years and each time the hotel seems to slide a little downwards in quality. Things are all getting a bit worn, the staff still make me feel welcome but management need to reinvest a little more to maintain comfort levels. At 50 euros a night it still represents good value. Food in the bar us good but breakfast is a bit hit and miss.

dear valued customer,
having read your review i am sorry to hear that you feel the hotel has fallen. i am unsure what exactly you would like ti improve comfort wise? during these tough times we are doing our best to improve. since the hotel came under new ownership this year we have recently painted the the interior and exterior of the hotel and also put in new carpet. we do know that there is more to be done but we are doing our best. on the good note we have recently been awarded for our food and service which is uplifting.
however i am interested to hear where else you suggest for improve and if you would like to email me i will be glad to read it and see what we can do
regards

Excellant bar food and reasonably price, good secure car park at rear of hotel. Was woken at 6.30am with truck reversing down the side entrance but they kept very quit making the delivery. Room was a nice size, the bathroom was a bit small and lack in decor. The shower worked perfectely. Hotel receptionists and bar staff were all very friendly. Would stay again.

Stayed 1 night, woke at 3am by fire alarm which was false alarm people were smoking near main entrance, got back to sleep only to be woke at 4.30am by a man trying to get into my room, unsuccessful, he came back a second time this time he got my room door open, finally after a few words he went away when I tried to use phone in room to ring reception phone was not working had to use my mobile, the time was after 5am did not get to sleep again, when I complained next morning staff did not seem to bothered about what had happened, I would defo not recommend this hotel, staff need a bit more training in how to deal with this kind of situation, very disappointed.....

dear customer,
I was made aware of the problems on this night the next morning by reception staff. I am very sorry that your night stay was not up to our usual standard. unfortunately we had a large group of guests who would not abide by the smoking rules or listen to our night porter. i have also reprogrammed all doors in the hotel in order to insure keys only fit one door. as regards to staff training, sometimes even with this it is hard and even impossible to make the public to comply with general regulations.
i do hope you will return to the hotel and see that this is not a regular occurrence.
many thanks for your review
