Do not plan to go to Waterside @ Graiguenamanagh if you are looking for some trendy, fast Dublin kind of action. It is just a totally delightful, extremely clean small hotel with unique ambiance and wonderful hosts. The room we had was quaint but up to date. The food was very well prepared and presented. And I am a sucker for historical places that aren't jammed with tourist buses.
Our host, Brian, and his lovely bride were charming and well informed. The setting is as pastoral and loaded with history as any locale in Ireland. Duisk Abbey in town is worth the visit by itself.
But mainly it gets down to a couple (now with children) who genuinely love their work and town and make any visit memorable. Their pride shows in everything we saw. I can honestly say I will never go to Ireland, even the North, without a stop in this town and this lovely hotel.
