“a fun night of entertainment”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2013

it is a very "touristy" thing to do, but we go to dunguaire every time we travel to that area of ireland. we always have a great time and good food, and meet nice people. and the show they put on at the castle is always good.

“We wish we had time to explore it better!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2013

We had stopped in Kinvara on a bus tour, on the way home from a day trip to the Cliffs of Moher from Dublin. Dunguaire Castle, one of the principal towerhouses of the O hEidhin (O Hynes) clan, is located to the east of Kinvara. Dunguaire Castle was built by the Hynes clan around 1520. It was spectacular to behold from the street. The misty, rainy day made for an even more mystical experience. Just being in County Galway was special enough, but this sight was especially memorable. We hope someday to return to this town to explore this castle on tour.

“Enjoyable castle”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2013

This is a beautiful old castle which is full of character. Each floor has interesting features and it is even possible to get onto the battlements from where there is a tremendous view of the harbour and Bay. The addmission price is fair, and even better for Seniors like myself. I don't usually enjoy old castles, finding them somewhat boring, but this one was fun and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. The souvenir shop was also selling good quality merchandise.

“Castle walks...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2013

We walked from kinvara bay to the castle and it was not open as it was the off season.

Don't be put off, you can still walk up and around the outside of the castle (which is quite small) for a look.

We even stopped around the other side and found a large boulder, had a glass of wine as the sun went down watching the fishing boats. It's pretty special.

It's a popular place for locals walking their dogs too.
