“Pleasant surprise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2012

We stumbled upon Oliver's on our drive through Cleggan. We enjoyed a quick lunch and pint and were on our way. It has a wonderful view and the food was good. The staff was friendly and helpful with our questions about local hiking - they directed us to the Cleggan Farm Holiday Cottages, who allow hikers to climb a large hill on their property overlooking the ocean. (BTW-That hike is not to be missed if you're in the area, if you don't mind making your own path and navigating some livestock.)

“Bar beside Cleggan pier”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2012

Great for a bit of simple food before / after your trip to Inisbofin. However Ive been here a dozen times or more and I always come away thinking that they could do so much more with the place. Still, I always come back for soup and a pint and the food is generally good. The owner is a lovely woman, always very friendly, something which certainly could not be said for the surly teenager taking food orders when we visited on the Saturday of the October bank holiday weekend last!

“The meeting place.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2012

Located in the center of Cleggan and adjacent to the pier with ferries to Inishbofin. A friendly place for a pint and a bite to eat before/after catching the ferry, or to relax in comfort and enjoy some Guinness and a hearty meal. The walls are complete with historical photos of the long-time fishing community.

“Overpriced”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2012

We went to this bar as a treat at the end of our holiday and although the staff were very friendly, the dining room could do with an update and the food was over priced and a bit slap dash. Overall, a disappointing experience it has to be said.

“The neighborhood bar that exceeds expectations!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2012

The sign outside Oliver's Bar says "bar food." We were pleasantly surprised to find that although the menu lists an array of expected sandwiches, the appetizers and dinner items were exceedingly well-prepared, beautifully presented and plentiful. The cook knows what she is doing. And Proprieter Noreen has assembled a menu that uses local fish, seafoods and cattle. The clientel includes local fishermen, families with chilldren and, judging from the array of accents, visitors from around the world. This is a local pub with a sophisticated chef. We ate there often. Atmosphere is warm, friendly and laid-back. No one is in a hurry so meals are relaxing.
