“A Hidden Gem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2013 via mobile

Stayed here midweek. Exemplary welcome. Wonderful atmosphere. Lots of cozy fires. It was a stunning evening & the gardens are absolutely amazing. Set in a tranquil location, this country house is unique, steeped in history and all furnishings & artefacts have a story to tell.
Dinner in the beautiful conservatory was excellent. An abundance of fresh fish. Impressive breakfast buffet and the homemade brown bread is divine.
I look forward to returning.

We stayed for a week-end break (2 B&B + 1D) and had a very relaxing time from arrival to departure. The location and surroundings are ideal for an "away from it all" break. The owners and staff are welcoming, friendly and helpful and run a very comfortable, cosy and homely establishment. Our room overlooked the rear garden with a view of the sea beyond but I expect most of the rooms had nice views as the gardens are very nicely laid out and maintained front and back. It was a large split-level room with the large sitting area down two steps towards the large window. Bed was very comfortable although floor space in the bed area was a little cramped because of additional single bed (which we didn't need) in the room.
The hotel offers a good choice of guest sitting areas, many with open fires, all comfortably furnished. Tea and scones in the drawing room on Saturday afternoon was a little bit of Heaven.
The only thing that fell short of our expectation was the dining. Breakfast choice was fine but had minor problems; bacon was not adequately cooked and so we observed many plates still had bacon on them when going back to the kitchen; hot food was often delivered to the table while people were still eating cold starters. Dinner (on Friday) was priced at €58 so we expected something special. While the food was, in the main, OK, it lacked the touches of a good restaurant. A salmon mousse starter had a plastic like texture making it most unpleasant. Although it was obvious from the start that my wife was not eating her mousse, staff carefully avoided our table until my starter was finished when it was a bit late to offer an alternative. Vegetables served with the main course were poor and tasted of nothing but peppers. No disasters but not good enough for the price. As a result we chose to eat elsewhere on the Saturday night. Even though it involved a 25Km round trip it was the right choice.
Overall a very pleasant stay but much more care is needed in the dining room

We used a Smartbox gift to spend a night here, including dinner. We were given a wonderful and warm welcome, with a large room overlooking the garden, with its own sitting room. There were cheerful peat and log fires burning in the reception rooms and lots of comfy sofas to sink into. The gardens are fantastic, we can't wait to return later in the year when there are more shrubs in flower. Dinner was superb and breakfast excellent too. This is a very special place, with a slightly old-fashioned charm. We loved it!

We stayed in this wonderful hotel on Saturday April 2nd. We chose the hotel because it was dog friendly. We had both our dogs with us, a labradoodle and a Bernese mountain dog. Dogs stay free and are allowed to stay in bedroom. From the moment we arrived we were welcomed by all members of staff. The weather was glorious so we had coffee on the lawn! Unusual for April in Ireland! We had a lovely room on the ground floor overlooking the gardens. The dinner and breakfast were delicious. Mrs Mc Evilly was so welcoming. Beautiful gardens to walk around. We will definitely be back. A big thank you to all for a lovely stay. I would highly recommend this wonderful hotel.

I stayed here last summer with my fiance for one night, it was a real treat. We booked using a groupon voucher and we were given a lovely room. It is perhaps a smaller room than others they have but we loved it. My one complaint was that the room was a bit dusty, but everything else was spotless. We ate in the restaurant that night and the food was beautiful and the staff were lovely. The next morning we treated ourselves to breakfast in bed and I'm glad we did, great food and it really was a treat! After breakfast we went for a walk around the hotel. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous and the gardens are breathtaking. I would defintely recommend staying here, it isn't often nowadays too find a place that has still kept all the charm of an old Irish hotel.
We will stay again!

After a few days in Scotland, we visited Ireland on our honeymoon, and Cashel House (at the recommendation of our travel agent) was our first stop. We can't say enough about our experience there. We were pretty stressed out when we arrived - about halfway through our long drive from Dublin to Cashel, we realized we'd lost our camera (with all our honeymoon photos from Scotland) at the airport - and Kay, Martin, Luigi, Ray and the rest of the crew at Cashel were sooo helpful. They were very sympathetic, called the airline for us, and got everything resolved - the service was above and beyond.

As you can tell by the photos already posted, the house and grounds are BEAUTIFUL - it feels like you're in "The Secret Garden". Also, the food was tremendous - we had the lamb shank and steak, and were very impressed. If you're looking for a lovely, relaxing country break and charming company, make the drive out to Cashel House - you won't regret it.

I recently stayed in Cashel with my husband and having visited Connamara on several occassion I feel sad that we only found this hidden treasure now, "but better late than never". From the moment we entered Cashel House it was truely a wonderful experience that I look forward to repeating in the near future. We were greeted by Ray and he showed us to our beautiful room that overlooked the garden No 44, the cleaniness was remarkable I have never seen a hotel so clean. It was pure relaxation from that moment on. Having settled in we were ready to explore the local area it was on our way out that we met the loverly Mrs Mc Evilly what a host she give us details of the local area and advised on a suitable walk . On our return we were met by a big fire in the sitting room and the charming Martin who was friendly. and give us information on the house and area. We relaxed in front of the fire before getting ready for a wonderful dining experience. Dinner was 5 courses were amazing beautifully cooked and the service was excellent down to our coffee served in the sitting room with a selection of home made chocolates to finish off. When we returned to our room the turn down service even included a hot water bottle what a treat especially since we were in the middle to the artic weather which we experienced in March.
Breakfast was a similar experience with a wonderful selection of both hot and cold the eggs were even from their own hens and again the host was on hand to ensure that all our needs were catered for.
I would like to say a big thank you to all in Cashel House both those in front of house but not forgetting the kitchen and cleaning staff you have a real tresure and I cannot wait to return to Cashel House in the near future.
