“A Nice Relaxing Day”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2012

Inis Oirr was our second favorite place in Ireland. It was so quite and peaceful. THe hike up the road to the castle was nice. I even took a nap on the castle grounds. We would like to spend a summer on the island.

“Lovley trip to a bit of Irish hisory”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2012

Inisheer is the smallest of the Aran Islands and an easy ferry ride from Doolin with fabulous views of the Cliffs of Moher. Home to only a few hundred full time locals, the locals speak Irish and house many Irish students looking to learn the language in the summer months. The landscapes are stunning with hundreds of miles of stone walls that separate the island in to paddocks for cattle and horses. It is easy to rent bikes or take one of the pony rides up to the castle where there are magnificent views of the island and Cliffs. Save some time to wonder around the castle ruins. This is not a town with cute shops and souvenirs but rather a beautiful bit of Ireland and its history.

Food: There is only one visible pub when you get off the ferry to the right, to which everyone flocks. There are better and less crowded options to the left less than a hundred yards down the road and up the hill just a bit.

“Stunning views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2012 via mobile

While at the castle, you will have a view of the main port and out as far as Co. Clare. Again we were extremely lucky with the weather.

“Look out”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2012

When visiting the Cliffs of Mohrer, we were told that the lookout tower at the Cliffs were in contact with O'Brien's Castle on Inishere via lanterns and this is how they warned each other of approaching enemies.
