“Exhilarating experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2013 via mobile

Thomas Faherty guided us there whilst on his pony & trap ride, otherwise it would have been difficult to find, though less than a km SE from Dun Aonghasa, the spectacular hill fort. When we visited there were raging seas with Atlantic breakers crashing in and spray right over the cliff tops. The a Wormhole was emptying and filling on a regular basis. In the bright winter sunshine it was one of the best natural phenomena that I've seen worldwide. On a quiet day it would be merely amazing if only for its geological formation.

“Amazing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2013

We did the pony & trap tour with Thomas and he got out and personally walked us to the Worm Hole. Not sure if we would have found it on our own. Don't miss it. And just to the West along the coast towards the fort is a bay cut into the cliffs called Port Bhéal an Dúin. At high tide it is my favorite place in the world.

“WOW!!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2013

It took awhile to find but it was an amazing adventure!!! It's such a beautiful sights. The rocky walk up the hole was hard at times but my nine year old loved it. Will definitely go back again.

“A priority while you are on the island”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2013 via mobile

Prepare a decent lunch and bring water before you hire your bike first thing in the morning, then make your way to the main road that takes you past the seal colony. Once you get to the main beach take a left and start up the hill a little before turning right at the sign that says "2km" to the worm hole. Be aware that the sign is in Irish and not in english. Take that road and you will sea a group of houses on the cliff. As the road turns left at the fork take the path to the right that continues north behind the houses. The path will dead end at a gate where you can walk through a passage and go down to the cliffs. Walk north and stay high on the cliffs- do not walk down to the lower rocks. There will be a small rope to step over at one point and then you will find the rectangular worm hole. My suggestion is to carry on walking up to the fort on the hill. You can make it to the main path and hop over the rock wall, thereby avoiding the 3 euro entrance fee. The round trip takes less than 1 hour walking, but obviously that doesn't include time spent picnicking or just enjoying the sights. After you return, take your bikes and see the rest of the island.

“Absolutely Stunning!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2013

Outstanding views and photo backdrop. The hike to get there is a bit physical, so wear good shoes, but don't miss it!
