“Villa Rose Hotel Ballybofey”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2013

This is a gorgeous hotel. Staff have a very warm welcome for you. Food is lovely and plenty of it. Lovely bar for handy food. Bedrooms are roomy. They do a lovely morning breakfast. The only problem is the parking. You have to go around the back of the hotel to park and if you do not watch where you are heading you will miss your turn. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you are up in Ballybofey shopping for a lovely lunch which are very reasonably priced.

While on driving holiday around Ireland recently we spent a night in this lovely hotel. The staff were lovely and very helpful. The evening meal in the restaurant was excellent. I would certainly recommend this hotel. It is situated in the main street of Ballyboofey with parking at the back and only 30minutes from Donegal town.

The Villa rose has a lovely warm and inviting feel about it. The rooms are very clean, modern, comfortable and spacious. We ate in the restaurant in the evening as well as breakfast and on both ocassions the food and service reached very high standards, however it was the quality of service from the staff, (in particular the restaurant staff) that was outstanding and ensured that we had a memorable experience. Can't wait to go back :)

from the minute we arrived until we were leaving we were made to feel so welcome. each and every member of staff was friendly helpful and courteous.we were delighted with our room which was very spacious and spotlessly clean. we were on a four night break which included breakfast and 4 course dinner each day both of which could not be faulted...even by a fussy eater.!!! one of the activities the hotel had laid on was a coach trip to glenveigh castle the hotel had even arranged a guided tour which was most enjoyable. a visit to the v spa is a must the zacuzzi is fabulous . over all the villa rose is a hotel that once you visit you will want to return to it again and again .

We held our wedding reception in the Villa Rose Hotel in May 2013. I cannot recommend it enough for other engaged couples looking for a wedding reception in the North West.

We arrived at the front (old) entrance of the hotel around 5pm on our wedding day, where the hotel's wedding manager Rhonda and the owner Tommy greeted us which was a lovely touch. The hotel doesn't have landscaped gardens onsite to take photos however there is a separate garden linked to the hotel close by for use.

The reception room was laid out so well and we got a quick opportunity to look around it before the dinner. Everything we had brought with us (table names etc) were laid out to perfection.

We booked the reception 1 1/2 years previously with Rhonda and from the very first contact, she could not have been more helpful and pleasant. Nothing we asked for (within reason) was too much trouble and she was fantastic at keeping in contact with us through to the wedding day.

Our wedding meal consisted of soup, delicious vol-au-vents, a choice of Beef/ Turkey and ham with roasted veg, baked alaska for dessert and tea and coffee. The food was delicious and very fresh. In my opinion, it was the best wedding meal I have ever tasted and our guests have raved about it since. The house red and white wine were lovely.

Particular compliments have to be paid to the service of the waiting staff during the meal who were run by Rhonda like a military operation! I kept a close eye on how our guests were being looked after during the meal and a waiting staff member appeared to be allocated to each table to cater to every need immediately. Plates were laid out and collected within minutes across the room- no delays at all.

The bar was run very efficiently and guests seemed to find the bar prices well within reason (we were coming from NI).

We had the Murray Suite for two nights which was a gorgeous large room and very comfortable during our stay. The cooked breakfasts each morning were delicious.

In summary, I think the main selling points of the hotel for any wedding reception are firstly the superb quality of the wedding meal and the staff who run and work in the hotel- they could not be any more pleasant and helpful. We did not have even one slight hitch during the reception or issue that I could complain about and we were more than accepting of the very reasonable price that we paid to hold our wedding reception here. It exceeded our expectations.

We have stayed in the Villa Rose as guests on many occasions and will continue to do so in the future.

Room Tip: The rooms in the 'newer part' of the hotel are a bit quieter

My partner and I booked the couples special which was one night dinner, bed and breakfast. Check-in was so quick and the staff were so helpful and friendly. Our room was gorgeous and the bed..wow!! So comfortable! Dinner and breakfast was amazing. We went to the hotel bar after dinner and the live entertainment wasnt great but we didnt mind. Had a lovely stay and will definitely be back!!

stayed here for 2nights with my wife and daughters midweek , it was one of the nicest hotels we have stayed in, the staff were so helpful and attentive. we used the spa facility on our second day , my wife booked a head and shoulder massage and said it was great and so relaxing the rest of us used the rain forest shower then the Jacuzzi in between eating snacks drinking juice or tea in the free mini canteen where you can eat what you want .the rooms are very spacious and clean here , there was music on when we were here in the bar area which was very good , the food in the hotel was of a high standard as we dined in each day , We will go back again tomorrow if we could , Loved it.

Room Tip: try eating in the front bar in the afternoon its so quaint
