The 1495 pop of this gem of atown on Irelands waterways must be very proud of The Lord Bagenal Inn.Our stay was one night for a wedding. Our room had a wonderfull view over the decking to the pontoon ,canal river and bridge. It was spacious and the furniture was class. We liked the staff who were numerous. The hotel was modern and had a family run atmosphere. The weather was damp so we stayed indoors in the spacious function rooms and the Bride and Groom may have had some regrets that it was too inclemant to spill out onto the spacious decking and beautifull verandas that night.Luckily the sun shone as it often does in Ireland in the morning and we lolled about burning the top of our heads raking over the coals of a great wedding while calling to the river folk and those hiking the path of the canals. The Breakfast was Ample and the coffee way about Irish Hotel standard.
one more point,I liked my beef and when fellow guests asked for theirs rarer they were served excellent rare steaks.Hats off in fairness and bien fait The Lord Bagenal. If they were to press me vis a vie the wedding I d say your bar staff in the pub on the right were slow and didnt have beers running as they should so it was a chore for the guys getting the rounds at the bar.
