“Group discount warning”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012

The hotel itself and all amenities were exceptional & I would recommend staying there. My rating is reduced to a 3 due to reservation issues. My daughter had a contract to guarantee a block of rooms for her wedding at a discounted rate for out of town guests. We understood that if these rooms were not booked, we would have to pay for the empty rooms (a considerable sum). Our guests were told to request rooms blocked for the wedding and this was handled properly by the in-house representative. However, when he was busy or not working, the calls were routed to a national reservation desk that gave the incorrect information that the block was full. This actually caused some of our guests to stay elsewhere. We had to call guests, explain, and try to track down where everyone was staying & ask them to change so we could fill those rooms. This was an aggravation we didn't need the week before the wedding.

I always stay at the Crown Plaza when I work in Knoxville. Recent room and bathroom updates make the hotel more appealing. The best part about the hotel the proximity to Market Square, Tennessee Theatre, and restaurants on Gay Street.

The corporate discount sways my perspective on the price per night, but I am guessing it is worth around $125 at open market pricing.

Overall, I suggest it strongly if in town for a concert, especially if it is at the TN Theatre.

This hotel is situated one block from Market Square in Knoxville, which houses some great little restaurants and bars. The gym is a great amenity with its well-equipped two levels. However, the hotel needs a spruce, particularly the exterior. We would not have paid full price for this hotel, but a quick call to a reservation agent allowed us to get a military rate. The rooms are fine and the staff friendly.
Parking is $8 per day.

We spent one night here after a Tennessee game. It was really just ok and I am betti there are better places to stay in town for the money. The location was not super close, but still easy walking distance from the stadium. The staff was very prompt and kind and checked us into a room very quickly. The room was pretty hotel typical but with a great tv. There was no bathtub an the hotel doesn't have a hot tub. We ordered room service and out order was completely messed up and the food was just not very good at all. When we were leaving the valet people brought the wrong car to the couple next to us and couldn't find the right one. So, in all, this place is adequate but nothing special.

Really enjoyed my stay here. The room was very nicely appointed with small spaces, but good set-up. My only complaint about the room was the location near the ice machine, which was loud. The gym is two level and very nice. Staff was very friendly. Parking was actually good, esp. for downtown, although the turns to get out of the garage were very tight. It was also a little weird when figuring out how to get into garage, but once it was figured out, all good. Restaurant breakfast wasn't bad and reasonably priced. I will stay here again.

Room Tip: ensure it isn't at the end of the hall by the ice makers

Had to pay $8.74 per night to park in hotel's underground garage & carry luggage up stairs...no elevator!.
Both elevators in hotel are frequently balky & unreliable.
Ice machines only on half the floor levels.
Lousy TV picture not improved on 1st service request, improved somewhat the following day by person who said it was an easy fix...the coax connection was simply cross-threaded.
NFL Network not on hotel TV package so could not watch the hometown team's rare appearance on Thursday Night TV.
Room furnishings made it very difficult & uncomfortable to use the desk...had to sit on edge of bed or squeeze into a too-low swivel chair & turn sideways in the seat.
Hinge on bathroom door squeaked so loud it woke the spouse when used during nightly trips.
No exhaust fan to remove bathroom odors.
No refrigerator in room

Room Tip: If you need to use the desk in the room, it might be worth $10 upcharge for a room with one bed. W...

I spent two nights at the Crowne Plaza Knoxville for a convention at UT. The best aspect of this hotel is definitely its proximity to everything. Lots of wonderful restaurants and shops nearby, and the university is about a mile away. The property, itself, was nice and employees were very friendly. The rooms are quite small, but clean and nicely decorated. I loved that our room had a Keurig and great coffee/tea options, unlike so many hotels which offer bland coffee to guests. It was an unexpected treat. The solo complaint I have about this hotel is its THIN walls. I could hear everything going on in the rooms on either side of me. It was completely tolerable until 11 p.m., when I had to get some rest for an early morning meeting. Other colleagues also had the same issue in their rooms on other floors. Parking was $8/night. When we were in town there were plenty of spaces, though it was not a game weekend.
