My husband and I ate at Bayou Bay for lunch today. It was not our first visit, but we enjoyed our meal so much I felt it was time I did a review. Our waitress was super nice, we were seated promptly, had our tea and menus quickly. I had their "meat and 2" special, choosing grilled tilapia, candied sweet potatoes and red beans and rice. My husband had Jambalaya. We've tried many of the menu items, all are well-seasoned and hearty portions. The shrimp 'po boys are my husbands favorites, lots of shrimp on a crusty French bread.
If you have room after the large meal, try the desserts (actually, get one to go, they are that good!). Their peanut butter pie is one of the best i've ever had, the key lime pie is a frozen delight and the Louisiana "Mush" cake is not to be missed. The decor is quite eclectic. There's something on the menu for every taste, whether you're into Cajun spices or not.
If you've never eaten at this non-descript looking little restaurant on Chapman Hwy, you don't know what you're missing.
