Description: We believe less processed food tastes better. Not only does it taste better, it's much healthier too. You'll notice this difference in our house made dressings and handcrafted pizzas, as well as in our colorful salads and sandwiches. Fresh produce from East Tennessee farmers like Hines Valley Farm, Mountain Meadows Farm and Colvin Family Farm is featured in our daily specials. Well known for our vegan and vegetarian dishes, our menu has plenty for the carnivore. All of our proteins are nitrate/nitrite free, all natural and antibiotic free. Our house made lamb sausage is cooked in small batches to ensure freshness. Our sister bakery, Flour Head Bakery, prepares all of the Tomato Head's desserts and breads (including gluten free!) Each morning. By using unbleached and unbromated King Arthur Flour, we create healthier and better tasting pizza dough and sandwich breads. We also can easily accommodate your dietary needs. Whether it's a nut allergy, a preference for vegan fare or a gluten sensitivity, our staff will craft a dish to suit your tastes.

“Longtime favorite”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2012

It's hard to write about Tomato Head because everyone loves it. It's noisy. But there's no place like Tomato Head. Pizzas and sandwiches and ... you know, good food. I like to customize a pizza for lunch sometimes, but the menu offerings are very good, too. I've just never had a bad experience at Tomato Head, and it's becoming something of a local institution. Nice to see some things don't change.

“"The Tomato Head was just perfect!"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2012

After a day of driving, the Tomato Head in downtown Knoxville was a perfect choice for us. Lively, cozy, casual with very fresh ingredients in our salad and pizza. Good prices too! Highly recommend!

“Good, but. . .”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

Good food, but honestly, I had a hard time trying not to stare at the servers with all their tattoos and piercings. That seemed to be a requisite in order to work there. The food is a bit pricey for what you get, but the food is cooked very well.

“One of the best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2012

This was honestly one of the best pizzas that my Husband and I have ever eaten. We were in Nashville visiting family and based on reviews decided to stop by Tomato Head on our way back to NC. We are thrilled that we did but bummed that we live over 8 hours away. The crust was thinner but had a chewy texture to it that really allowed it to hold its own with our toppings of sausage, bacon, and smoked turkey. The toppings were plentiful and each bite was filled with hearty chunks of meat. It is quite possible that the pizza was better the next morning when we had it for breakfast. We just sat and ate in silence as we allowed the different flavors and textures to party across our palates. Seriously if you are ever anywhere near this place you should go in. Our order was ready in about 20 minutes despite it being Friday evening around 7pm. Take out service was prompt and friendly. Would certainly and plan to visit this place again.

“Awesome pizza!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2012

Fresh dough, fresh vegetables , great quality meats and cheese! Expensive for the size but probably the best pizza I have eaten. Service is not anything special - you go up to the counter to order. Great location on Market Square.
