“Great BBQ joint.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2013 via mobile

If you are looking for very good barbecue but don't care about real plates, silverware and cloth napkins then Sweet P's is your place. Located right on the river you get the ambiance of a real BBQ shack. Ribs were my favorite. They were meaty, moist, tender and flavorful. All the sides are good but Mac and cheese is great. Food is served cafeteria style and servings are huge. A must place to visit.

“Family vs. Food!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2013

Discovered this well-hidden gem in the rough after watching an episode of "Man vs. Food" on the Food Network a few weeks prior. Nine family members GPS'd the address which took a bit over 30 from Lenoir City but soon discovered it was well worth the trip. Most of us paired up to share the $20 "sampler plate" than consists of 1/4 rack of ribs, brisket, pulled pork or chicken plus three sides from among: mixed greens, Tatar salad, cole slaw, green beans, Mac n cheese, green salad, sautéed greens (twist on collard greens) and all so yummy bread pudding. Both the Mac n cheese and bread pudding were given two thumbs up by the six or so who chose those sides. There were at least four different BBQ sauces to select from on each table. By the way, the $50 food challenge is the El Grande Comida you'll have to read about to believe. Set your GPS to try out Sweet P's, and you'll likely be glad you did.

“I'll be back - no doubt about it”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2013

Great place to go for a quick BBQ meal. Nothing fancy, order from the chalkboard, and find a table Paper plates / plastic forks / and serve yourself drinks but the place is clean, the staff friendly, helpful and welcoming. The brisket looked good and the pork was excellent and although it may not have needed it as many of the reviews stated I couldn't resist the sauces on the table. A mix of thick and hot sauce was perfect for my taste, so much so that I even enjoyed it on the Mac and cheese ( which needed something). The standard sides were nothing to write about but the " Red and Blue " salad was nothing short of exceptional. Well worth the extra $1.50.

It's on the water but there is no view.

“YUMMY!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2013

We were in Knoxville for the night and really wanted good barbeque, we found it at Sweet P's. This place is not fancy you order at the counter they plate it and you enjoy it.
Between the five of us we had just about everything on the menu, it was all very good. The meat was smoked just right not to heavy, it was juicy and did not need sauce. We had mac and cheese, greens, cole slaw and banana pudding. Our one daughter had the wings they were dry rubbed, smoked and then deep fried. We now have favorite barbeque places on both sides of Tennessee, Germantown Commissary in Memphis and Sweet P's in Knoxville.

“Sweet P's Pretty Good Overall”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2013

We usually come to Sweet P's by boat. It is a popular place, but keep in mind it is not fancy! It is located in a marina and you do have a limited view of the lake. They also offer outdoor seating.

The pork and chicken barbeque are very good. Side dishes such as mac n cheese and collard greens are also pretty decent. The food comes on paper plates and the spoons, forks and knives are plastic but that works for a setting like this one. My main gripe with this place is that they only serve beer! I miss having a glass of wine with dinner. If you like a down-home place where it is easy to get your food, eat and go, this is it. They also have live music.
