“A Trip to Paris Without Going Through Customs”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 14, 2014

Not only is the food delicious, but the whole restaurant is enchanting. Love getting to speak with the owner and his wife who clearly have a passion for French food. The hardest part about the whole experience is trying to decide between a savory or sweet crepe!

“French for a reason.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2014

We were late for lunch today, arriving after 2:00 p.m., but were welcomed as if we were right on time. The crepe of the day was outstanding (so my wife said), and my roast beef and cheese baguette was excellent with just enough mustard to add a little bite. Susan, one of the owners, visited our table to be sure all was as it should be.
Good news! The French Market will soon open a second location in Farragut....out west as we say in Knoxville, We wish them the best of luck.

“OK: Chicken salad. Discuss.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2014

Look, I like the French Market enough to go here about once a month. I like the baguettes. The roast beef on the baguette is a good sandwich. Nothing special, but it's good, crunchy-crusted bread and rare roast beef. What's not to like? Just a little expensive, you know, for a basic sandwich.

Dear Hubby wanted desperately to go here for a light dinner before rehearsal. I kept trying to steer him toward more affordable or at least completely fabulous places (Coolato Gelato, totally worth the price, and Nama, say no more, say no more). He would have none of it. He just wanted the French Market.

So we went. He got a baguette with turkey. I stupidly ordered the chicken salad on a croissant.

The chicken salad was absolutely awful. It consisted of chopped up chicken, mayonnaise that tasted suspiciously like Miracle Whip (cannot confirm, because I'm not behind the counter), and gobs and gobs of coarsely-chopped sweet pickle. I opened the sandwich up and slowly and laboriously picked out at least three tablespoons of chopped sweet pickle. Put the sandwich back together, took another bite, and promptly got another mouthful of sweet pickle.

Gross.

Won't be ordering that again. If you love Miracle Whip and sweet pickle, this is definitely the chicken salad for you.

Otherwise, stick with the crepes or baguettes.

“Love the crepes!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2014

This may be the best breakfast I have ever had. It was so delicious without the guilt of greasy (which isn't as tasty anyway) I had a crepe filled with tomatoes, spinach, cheese, and ham. The croissants looked and smelled delicious as well and can be filled with a variety of fillings. The pastry counter is an excellent draw along with many tea and coffees to choose from. Very convenient for walking when staying downtown. I will definitely have a "do-over"!

“A taste of Paris”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2014 credit card Amex Card Member Review

I have been a customer of the FM since their opening. They do a very good job with their menu, and at reasonable prices. Their crepes are the best I've tried outstide of France. The decor of their place is also very well done. Overall, it gives you a real taste of Paris in the heart of downtown Knoxville.
