“Great views on a clear day”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 14, 2013 via mobile

It's a free attraction so I'm not sure why you wouldn't give it all 5 stars. It's located in a lovely park area. It's true the glass has a funny tint too it (you can tell it will as its gold on the outside lol) but you still get some great views of Knoxville and even the smoky mtns off in the distance. They do need to do some repairs and clean up. It's showing some age. But for free I can't complain.

“Fun, free, and fast!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2013 via mobile

Enjoy this free attraction with a great view of Knoxville and a little bit of history thrown in for good measure. We did wonder about the carillon, though. What does it sound like? When is it played? Who plays it?

“Sunsphere”

The windows were not that clear when looking out over the city, a bit disappointed. But it is quite a view.

“A must-do in Knoxville”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2013

If there's one thing you MUST do when you visit Knoxville, it's the Sunsphere. I mean seriously it's what makes the Knoxville skyline what it is, and best of all it's free. It's obviously not hard to find, and there's lots of places to park so it's not hard to get to. The walk through the World's Fair Park is pleasant, usually on the weekends there's always something going on. In the summer months, the fountain is going so if you bring the kids they'll love playing in it! The adjacent playground is nice with it's up-to-date equipment and soft play area.

The Sunsphere itself is very unassuming... there's no big flashy sign or canopy or anything, just an elevator... take the ride up (don't jump in the elevator, it may stop!) When you getup there, you'll enjoy a 360-degree view of Knoxville and the surrounding area... the Smoky Mountains on one side, the rest of Tennessee on the other -- an awesome view of the city, the park below, lots of water and mountains as far as you can see... it's quite breathtaking. There's a self-guided tour about the sphere and the 1980-whatever World's Fair for which it was built. Lots of photos and a cool organ (the piano kind) to look at.

Don't go to Knoville without going to the Sunsphere at least once... there's no better view to be had anywhere in the area that's this easily-accessible or free.

“Great view over Knoxville”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2013

The Sunsphere is at the Worlds fair park in Knoxville and overs 360 degree panoramic view over Knoxville. It's free and there is free parking nearby although it's not well marked to find it.

There is a restaurant and lounge in the upper floors but it is only open later in the week and on the weekends.

Nearby in the park is a great playground for the kids, flags flying overhead, an ampitheatre, and some lovely fountains/water. During the month of April there are activities and music on the weekends for families and the kids.
