“Beautiful park -- no maintenance”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2013

This is a lovely park, and I'm sure that at one time it was very nice to visit, BUT....
The signs around the park are very lacking, the swimming pool is already closed and from the dirty scum on top of the pool cover, I seriously doubt that it was open at all this year.

We hiked along the river on a few of the trails that are listed in the park brochure, but the trails were overgrown and the blaze marks along the trail were so faded that we only saw 2 or 3 throughout the hike. Had it not been for the fact that we were hiking along the edge of the river, we would definitely have gotten lost. There is also no indication, signage or otherwise of how to get from the parking areas to the trails.

Please, please, don't waste this lovely natural resource -- take care of it!

“Tennessee Golf”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2013

We golfed an 18 hole round at the state parks course. We aren't quite used to the hills and different levels of elevation. It was a beautiful course and very well maintained. The staff were all nice. The greens staff would politely shut off the mowers at tees and greens. We stopped at the little gravesite and one of the greens staff stopped and talked to us about the heritage of the course and his family. It was very interesting and was the highlight of the round!

“camping trip”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2013

we have a 32 foot toyhauler and it was very tight driving through loop around park as all camping vehicles are parked very close to the road. There was no sewage hook up which was okay UNTIL I found out the park was full and there was only 3 SHOWERS. They were very TINY no room to change your clothes without them getting wet.Shower curtains were OLD and barely hanging. This was VERY VERY SAD. I would not recommend this campground because of the shower situation as that is so IMPORTANT when your hot and sweaty.

“Our dog love it there.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2013

One of the places in Kingsport we visit often. There is lots of things to do there, hiking, boating, fishing, go for a walk, etc.
there are things in this park that needs work. Benches, exercise stops, etc. I guess money is tight. Remember it is a free park so that may be the reason.
