Well, to begin, it's not a chain, so that's a plus in my book. I ate at Cafe One 11 off the recommendation of someone, and I'm glad I did. I was in Johnson City on business and was rather disappointed by the number of chain restaurants flocking the streets. I was beginning to think I'd have to do lunch at the Olive Garden.
Cafe One 11 bills itself as an Asian, Thai, Fusion restaurant. I'd agree. The decor is Asian, mixed with contemporary American. The female Buddha behind the bar is beautiful.
I dined on a spring roll and the Thai Basil chicken for lunch. I'd give the food a 6 of 10 for the geographic area. Let's remember we can't have stellar, 5 star cuisine in the middle of nowhere.
The spring roll was good, but too hot. It should be allowed to cool before being served. Or pulled from the deep fryer 2 minutes earlier.
The Thai Basil Chicken was good, but the sauce is too thick and too much for the plate. But it was good. There simply should have been less sauce on the plate.
Appearance of the cuisine on both plates was excellent, as someone took time in the kitchen to present the dish. The service was excellent. While I didn't drink, being lunch and I had too much to do, the wine list was good for the area.
I recommend the restaurant.
