“I'M WIERD, I DID NOT LIKE.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2013

Not trying to be a pooper but I'm very picky with my food. They serve barbeque plates, sandwiches, ribs, collards, some odd things like alagator or wierd appatisers. I just didn't like the smoke taste and the way it made my stomach feel after I left. WE have not been back.

“Better than Ridgewood!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2013

Most people from East Tenn rave about the bbq from Ridgewood. Unitl I ate at the Hokie Smokie so did I, but not anymore. The pulled pork put Ridgewood to shame. It was VERY flavorable and moist (Ridegwood's can get dry because they reheat it on a grill). The sauce was sweet but not overly so and the bun held up well with all the meat and sauce. I am very picky about cole slaw but theirs rocked. It wasn't sweet nor did it have to much mayo. It had a kick to it that I tried to figure out what it was but the waitress said the cook wouldn't give up the family recipe (I think they might add a little radish). The sweet potato fries were great. The wait staff were friendly. I can't wait to go back. It's just a short hop off of I-26 so anyone going thru the area that wants some good TN bbq, make sure you stop.

“Smoked Prime Rib and Pecan Cobbler!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 16, 2012

I've been to Hokie Smokie three times and have been very pleased on each visit. The meat has always been very flavorful and tender and they have a wide variety of sides. I particularly like their collard greens and baked beans. The Pecan cobbler is a must try.

“Never disappointed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2012

We ate there again last night and the smoked Prime Rib was mouth watering! The pulled pork was magnificent as always!!! You should make it your mission to eat here. Friend them on Facebook and you can see weekly specials and exotic menu items when available. With all the restaurants in JC, this one is so consistently delicious it is worth making a regular date. :-) Even though it is not "romantic", it is a fun date. It is well lit with big screen TVs that can be seen from every table. Great for spot for sports events which keeps a fun atmosphere but not so outrageous that it would not be appropriate for families.
