“Disappointed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2014

Was told of Loretta Lynn Kitchen and had seen advertisements on billboards. Stopped to see, stayed at a very nice Best Western with very helpful employee. Took to internet to find info for visit. Went to ranch on November 14, 2014 since internet info stated tours and site open 9-4pm for winter hours. NO ONE AVAILABLE TO HELP. tHE INTERNET SITE WAS MISLEADING AND WE LOST TIME TRAVELING. PLEASE UPDATE YOUR SITE FOR FUTURE VISITORS. NOT ALL TRAVELERS DO SO IN SPRING,SUMMER AND FALL.

“Nice place to relax”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2013

We spent 2 nights here in a cabin located in the RV park. The weather was frigid, in the 20's - 30's. The property had closed up several stores and the horsebackriding. We took the tour of Loretta Lynn's house, Bucher Holler home, and the museum. The tour tickets came with our reservation, so we took advantage of it. If we were enthusiasts, it would have been dreamy. Since we are not, it was interesting. I would only recommend it if you are a fan.

The property is expansive. We arrived just after hunting season began, so we were advised not to venture into the surrounding woods. Thankfully there is a tiny little TV with satellite reception, so we watched quite a bit of TV and traveled into the city of Waverly a few times. Waverly is only 10 minutes away and has everything one would need. A Walmart, several fast foods and local restaurants, and a single screen movie theater, the MI-DE-GA, that shows one movie an evening for $7/ ticket. They show first run movies, so dinner at a local pizza place and a movie at the theater made for an enjoyable evening as it sleeted outside.

I had read some reviews that tour guides and some employees at the ranch were less than friendly. The only less-than-friendly person we encountered was the lady who checked us in. Everyone else was as one would expect in the deep South, friendly and accommodating.

We ate a lunch at the Loretta Lynn Café across the road from the Ranch and the food was good and reasonable.

The accomodations were comfortable and clean. There were 4 of us, 2 adults and 2 teens, and we expected to find 2 queen beds, as was advertised. The bed in the loft is a double/full, which they should correct on their website. The beds were so soft and plush, we sank into them and felt like we were sleeping in a cloud. If you need a hard bed, book somewhere else. The bathroom situation can be a bit uncomfortable for mixed gender living, but we survived. Having the mini kitchenette was convenient. There is a decent sized mini fridge, coffee maker, microwave, toaster oven, and sink. Paper towels, hand towels, coffee/creamer, a few paper cups, and two coffee mugs are provided. Bring your own dish soap and any dishware you might need. Housekeeping refreshed towels and took out the trash on our second day.

One bonus was the pet friendliness. The pet fee was very reasonable and was a flat rate, not per dog/per night. There was plenty of space to walk the dogs of course. There was also a fire pit, patio furniture, and a picnic table outdoors that we could have enjoyed had it not been freezing and sleeting. We did appreciate the privacy, as our cabin would normally have been right in the mix of all the RV sites. There is also a little market (closed), laundry, and game room (where all the games appeared to be broken or damaged somehow) conveniently located for the RVers and campers.

During the summer the ranch is taken over by motorcross racing and I don't know if they even book cabins. I think the motorcross workers are housed in them. So if you can book a stay in the spring or sometime in the summer when there is availability, I would expect you would have an enjoyable stay. And if you have an RV, there are several hundred RV hookups to choose from year round.

“Pure Southern Beauty”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2013

2 days was not enough..........we will be coming back here. We stayed at one of the new cabins 2 nights and it was beautiful area, not too busy and that was our mission for our 1st time going. Tour guide was amazing, LOVE him! Do the whole tour and it's all close together and for elderly people don't worry the walking and steps are really doable. So many stores and oh my the museum, make sure to take your time and read ALL of what Loretta wrote about everything, well worth your time. I also recommend u watch Coal Miner's Daughter b4 going to refresh your memory of Loretta's life as a child and adult, makes it more warming to the heart or to me at least. Only complaint was not seeing Loretta..........I know wishful thinking, but hey being the only complaint u have to go!!! Great place to get family pix or to have your wedding. Just beauty everywhere. Our 2nd day I did the tour again solo to soak up more while hubby & kids went and paid to go ride horses for 2 hours, that was fun also. It made me want to move there. I miss it already and want to go back, gonna wait til summer, hoping to see a motorcross and Loretta Lynn of course. Oh and the staff everywhere were all nice and pleasant, it was like u could tell they enjoyed the job they were doing. And they gave honest great recommendations of where to eat! TIP: don't listen to GPS, it took us the long route, be prepared if u r not familiar with area.

“a good place to take a break”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2013

Called in here on our way from Memphis to Nashville.
Wow !! what a ranch and the grounds are stunning
This museum and ranch is just a short drive off the main highway but it makes a perfect stop for relaxing and a welcome cup of coffee.
We felt really welcome here and the museum of Loretta is brilliant, we are not country and western fans but this lady hass amassed an awray of fasinating family and lifetime items.
Give it a try it felt like a bit of Wales in Tennessee....Certainly "a welcome in the hillsides"
