“One of the better in this chain”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

On a short trip up through north GA and east Tennessee, we chose the Country Inn in Hixson due to having stayed at this chain's hotels for the past several years. Before booking, we did check with Tripadvisor to ensure an unbiased review of this location. It was rated tops and we booked it. The only reason we didn't give it 5 stars as there are not many 5-star hotels that really rate that high a score, but this is definitely a 4+!

Room and bed were both comfy, quiet and clean. the breakfast buffet ranks right up there with the best, too.

Altogether, if we had to come to Hixson and stay here again, would we? Definitely.Do we recommend this location/hotel? Definitely.

Room Tip: This location is on the far north side of Chattanooga so if you are attending a meeting or have some...

Called in and made reservation. Called back to get a confirmation number and rate had be increased by 20 bucks. We cancelled reservation and went up the street to Holiday Inn Express. We had a similar experience with this motel a couple of years ago. They said we had the lowest rate but then we over heard them quoting a lower rate when we were sitting in the lobby.

Room Tip: Be very careful and confirm everything.

The family booked a room at the Country Inn and Suites in Hixson for a 3 day mini vacay in Chattanooga. The rates were definitely attractive over downtown Chattanooga rates and the reviews were basically good. We found the staff to be friendly and attentive. The facility was well maintained in the public areas. Our room, while clean, was showing signs of wear and tear: split wallpaper in the bathrooms, scarred tub, chipped tile..... clean but in need of a bit of sprucing up. Not the hotel's fault, but our visit was made a bit unsatisfactory the first couple of days and nights due to the presence of what appeared to be a girls softball league team staying there for a Championship series. Many younger siblings, lots of running up and down halls, lots of shouting. The breakfast room is small and 2 days we could not even get in to eat and on one of those days there was practically no food left when we came by. One last note about food: there is way to much good coffee available for coffee service that Country Inn should use the one they do. It's absolute swill, tasted like soap.

But room was clean, beds comfortable, we felt secure and the rate was great. Want to say it was better but for our stay it just wasn't.

Stayed in this hotel for several days. Rooms were clean and well kept and the desk folks were some of the friendliest folks I've met on the road. Hot coffee was always available and fresh. I wouldn't stay anywhere else if I were anywhere in the area. Great hotel!!!

I have stayed at the Country Inn and Suites several times in March, April and May 2013. The hotel is not real easy to access, the hotel can been seen from the road, but the access road is hard to figure out.

The hotel is in good to fair condition, the staff treats you like family. Jeff at the desk, the ladies at the breakfast bar treat you like you are their kids. They welcome you back to the hotel and make you feel welcome.

The hotel will need an upgrade in the near future, but the staff does a great job.

On our multi-city Tennessee trip, we chose Chattanooga as the central place to stay. I paid a little more than I would have with any other hotel, but it was worth it. We travel alot, and this hotel was one of the quietest we ever stayed. We didn't hear doors slamming, water running, people outside yelling, just noise we created in our room. I think our room was recently rennovated, so the pillows and mattresses were practically new. The maids didn't clean our room on our first night-which wasn't a big deal, except we needed clean towels. The front desk manager Fred came quickly with replacement towels for the next morning.

The downside is that the hotel isn't easily accessible from the main highway. The roads to the hotel aren't clearly marked and a small hotel sign was the only landmark to find the hotel. Once you find it, it is worth the trouble it took to get there.

Room Tip: I believe the 2nd floor has recently been renovated...ask for a room up there.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2013

I feel the need to leave a review for this hotel, because people have left bad ones, and it's not a bad place. We actually got to stay here for 3 weeks, because of my husband's job training! We liked it, it was like a home away from home. There's a few nit-picky things I could say about it, but the good def outweighs any little nit-picks. If I could, I'd prolly actually give it 4.5 stars.

> GETTING TO THE HOTEL. This is prolly the worst part. First of all, their address cannot be found on any GPS system. They even admitted that during breakfast one morning. So you gotta get to Hixson, then figure out the rest lol. It's pretty much right after the big bridge that goes across the river. It's on the left at the Kangaroo convenient store traffic light. The actual hotel is behind IHoP. The hard part is trying to figure out how to get to the daggone parking lot after you turn at the light. We finally realized that it's the first turn on the left -- but there's NO sign (like a normal sign). Instead they have a yard sign (like an tiny election sign type thing). You can't see that thing in the daylight - I'd hate to be trying to find the turn in the dark.

> CHECK-IN/OUT. Check-in is at 3pm. Checkout is at Noon (which I liked, cuz most places are 11am, so you get an extra hour :)

> BREAKFAST. First of all, they have a REAL breakfast. You get HOT foods like omelets, scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, french toast, waffles, soft chicken biscuits, biscuits & gravy, potatoes. You don't get them all at once. Waffles are every day, but the others they do like 2 hot items a day. Like eggs and a meat usually. It's all good, except the french toast LOL. They also had like grits or something in a cylinder almost every day, but I never tried it. They also have other items that are there every morning, like: fruits, yogurt, granola sprinkles, coffees, 4 cereals (granola-type, raisin bran, cornflakes, & fruit loops), packaged yogurts (like Yoplait and Dannon), waffles, jellies and peanut butter, breads (like white, swirl, bagels & cream cheese, croissants with icing, etc), muffins (blueberry, chocolate, & banana nut). They have a toaster & microwave. and a big tv so u can watch the news with your breakfast. Drinks they have are coffee, milk, fat-free milk, apple juice, orange juice, water, one more juice I can't remember - prolly cranberry). And breakfast is from 6am-9:30 on weekdays, 7-10:30 on sat&sun. Juice/Water machine is always there, so you can go down and gets juice in a cup if you wanna. As well and plastic forks, knives, spoons and paper plates.

> COMPLIAMENTARIES. You get a few compliamentary things during your stay... I already told you about the breakfast. You also get either raisin or choc. chips fresh-baked cookies around the clock in the lobby, which were usually there when we wanted some. You also get coffees around the clock in the lobby. You get a compliamentary newspaper. You also can get things for your room that are compliamentary, like a bath mat for the shower, deo, comb, feminine products, hairspray, lint mitt, mouthwash, pantyhose, toothbrush/paste, razor, sewing kit, envelopes, makeup-remover wipes etc.

> HOTEL AMENITIES.
> POOL. The best part is of course - THE INDOOR POOL!! =D And it's open till like midnight! It goes from 3-feet to 5-foot and it's nice and big. There was hardly anyone ever in it the whole three weeks we were there. We'd usually go at night. But every time we passed there'd be no one in it, sometimes 2 or 3. I don't think there were ever more than 4 other people in it while we swam. I loved it! And miss it =) The only aggrevating thing about the pool was, it's heated, so when it's already hot you don't really want to be heated. But it was only too hot like one time. And one time it was like chilly cold. But it doesn't take long to get used to either. Most times it's normal temp and easy to get into quickly. THe only other aggrevating thing about the pool, is that at the 5ft end there's 3 contraptions on the pool floor that you stub you're toe on a lot - that got annoying lol. But it was SO fun to swim in! Loved it!
> WIFI INTERNET. You get high-speed Wi-Fi in your room. It's easy to log on and goes fast. The only complaint is, every now and then if you're on it a while, it'll decide you need to type in your password again to access the network. So it's aggrevating if you're in the middle of a website or opening links and everything stops. But not a real big deal. Just nit-picky stuff.
> FITNESS ROOM. Now this one's hit and miss. It's open the same hours as the pool, if I remember right. And it's the room right beside the pool. It's a small room with 4 exercise machines (2 treadmills, 1 bike, & 1 elliptical). I loved the big tv in there, you can just get intranced in a show and exercise forever! =D There's also a water cooler, but they rarely stocked the cups it seemed. The bad is that the air was never left on in there, so you'd go in and the heat would about knock you out, and then you're trying to work out in it lol. But if you turn it on high right away it's tolerable. The worst part was that only two machines really worked - the elliptical and the bike. The first treadmill, no matter what I set it on, it would kick off like 2-3 minutes into a walk. After about the 5th time I gave up on that machine. The 2nd treadmill has like a whomping in it, everytime the belt goes around -- you can't walk on that thang! So I stuck to the elliptical :) But you can also lose a lot of calories in the pool! :)
> BUSINESS CENTER. There's a room on the 1st floor where you can get on computers (if you don't have your own). That's also where you do any printing, and they don't charge you to print stuff! They also have meeting rooms available with audio/video equipment and refreshments or catering upon request - if u need that kinda thing for something.
> LAUNDRY. Okay... they offer laundry services like dry-cleaning, and stuff. But they also advertise that they have a laundry room for the guests -- which is true, but it was "out of order". Which stunk, cause we were there for 3 weeks! A laundry room in our hotel would have been ideal. They said at the front desk that a guest had put work boots in the washing machine and it broke the machine. But we were there for 3 weeks and it was never repaired or replaced. So that stunk. And untelling how long it had been out of order.
> VENDING MACHINES. They have vending machines on every floor. However only the first floor has the snack machine. We were on third floor and the pop machine ate our money (but they refunded). The 1st and 2nd floor machines worked good though. There's also ice machines on every floor, and they work great. (I hate a hotel where the daggone ice machines don't work on every floor - but theirs does :)
> WAKE-UP SERVICE. I suggest not using this. There was a couple days where the electric kept blinking for some reason. One night it went out completely for a bit and knocked our alarm clock out. My husband needed the alarm clock for work, so he asked the front desk to do a wake-up call the next morning as a back-up. They didn't even call! So don't rely on the wake-up service =/
> HOUSEKEEPING. Housekeeping comes around at about Noon-1pm-ish, unless you get a slow lady, then it could go on 3pm before she comes. But they come in and do whatever you need. Vacuuming, restocking towels, taking dirty towels, cleaning tub & sink & toilet & mirrors, restocking your cups, coffee, bathroom stuff, etc. Changing your bed linens and making your bed. Taking your trash, etc.

> ROOM AMMENITIES.
> NON-SMOKING. I wouldn't have it any other way!
> TELEVISION. First of all, we were in a king size suite with a living area. So we had two nice size flat-screen tvs! He could watch something in the bedroom, and I could watch something in the living area! =D The service is through Comcast, and you get locals and all your faves, plus more! About 70-ish channels.
> LIVING AREA. If you have a room like ours, you'll have a living area. It includes a desk, a 3-drawer dresser, tv, phone, loveseat, single-chair, a closet, ironing board & iron, two big mirrors (one is full-length). There's also like a food station, I'll call it. It's has a nice tall mini-fridge that holds EVERYTHING, including pizza boxes, pop cans, gallons of milk/tea/etc, half gallons, freezer items, etc. It also has a microwave, and a cupboard underneath. The whole thing has a counter on top to hold ur ice bucket, cups, coffee maker, and all ur snacks :) There are 5 sources of light in the living/food area.
> BATHROOM. Bathroom is nice. But a little cramped. The way the door opens is so annoying, and in the way when using the bathroom or trying to get in the shower - they really should make it open out instead of in. But it's tolerable. You get a lot of counterspace for your bathroom supplies, but the shower had NO shelves. It had one small soap dish thing with ridges that protrudes out that can only fit like two or threes mini shampoo things - you can't put nothing big on it cause it would hold it, it slides off. So you're left with the corners of the tub to set your stuff lol. But the shower head is really nice -- it moves really easily in a million different directions, and has different settings though I never changed it. The shower also drains really well, so you don't stand in your own yuck. They will also give you a shower mat at the front desk if you ask for one (because there is no grip in the tub), and it's brand new in plastic wrap like u get at Wal-Mart. So you'll be the only on that's used it. I liked that. The shower curtain is a little frustrating, but I finally figured it out. First of all there's no plastic liner, there's just a cloth curtain, and the rails it's on is bowed out/curved and slanted, so you couldn't get it close on both ends without letting water spray out. But I finally figured out to take the magnet at the bottom and place it way into the sides of the tub on both ends, and it'll finally stay fully closed off lol. Bathroom also has a hairdryer and outlets.
> KING BED. The king bed is in it's own little room. Just like you can close off the bathroom, you can close off the bedroom part. SO you got 3 locks on the main room door, then a lock on the bedroom door. So that's a neat thing. And you're in the living area watching tv and someone is sleeping, you can close it off. The bedroom has a tv, a 3-drawer dresser, a closet, 2 night stand with drawers, two wall lamps on either side (also an overhead light), and an alarm clock. The bed is SOOOO comfy. It's not hard like other places. And they give you LOTS of pillows (4), with an extra 5th one in the closet, and also an extra blanket that's mesh. The linens are clean and white. You have a white sheet to sleep under, and the comforter is nice too. It has a outer sheath that they pull off and clean, so you don't feel skeeved using it.
> TEMPERATURE CONTROL. You get you're out daggone thermostat!! Not no clinky, loud air conditioner wall mount - you have central heating and air! And you have a digital thermostat in the living area to control it and put it at WHATEVER temperature you want!! LOVED IT!!!!! Even cooling distribution.

Overall we really enjoyed our stay. I'd stay there again anytime. It was really a home away from home for us. You're close to Wal-Mart and the mall, shopping centers, food, and just anywhere you wanna go. You're minutes from downtown Chattanooga and the river. Every staff member we came in contact with was super sweet and always trying to help. It's very clean in the room and bathrooms and hotel in general. Stuff doesn't looks jacked up, it all looks nice. It was a great experiences for us. I'd recommend it to anyone! I don't think you'd be disappointed overall!

I tried to break this down into subjects since it was so long, hope this helps you decide on things! :)

Room Tip: So with the king size non-smoking suite :) You won't regret it!
