“Excellent Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2013

We picked this place for overnight accommodations while attending Sharyn McCrumb's program at Appalachian State University in October. What a wonderful choice. Carl and Roberta certainly know how to make their guests feel welcome. They were gracious hosts and certainly put out excellent breakfast. We would stay again if in the area.

We stayed here in September for six nights. It is excellent value for money - certainly compared with the prices of B&Bs in Nashville. It is a rustic property - subject to spiders on the outside for example - and maybe not quite as pristine clean as some might prefer - although our bedroom and bathroom were fine and the bedlinen was clean.

The breakfasts were great - we could choose what we wanted to eat, when we wanted breakfast and where we wanted to eat - in our room, the dining-room or the courtyard.

Above all, the hosts are charming and so very accommodating. They had agreed for us to arrive on our first night at about 11.30pm due to a flight we were on from Denver to Nashville. Unfortunately, this flight was delayed because of bad weather and we eventually turned up at one o'clock in the morning. We were still welcomed by Roberta!!!

A particularly nice point was the coffee in our room every evening - we were able to make and enjoy a couple of mugs before we retired - not so common in the States.

I can't remember if I wrote a review or not, so I am writing again to make sure. My wife and I stayed here in June and loved. The price was good; the house had a "unique' feel to it. It was almost like going back in time.

The breakfast was amazing! We took pictures of the breakfast to show everyone. Go for the experience, friendly owners, special treatment, and of course the food!

We will be going back! We celebrated our 22nd wedding anniversary there. The owner surprised us with champagne and a card. They brought our dinner to our room and everything was homemade right down to the ranch dressing and rolls. The next morning, we had another amazing meal with enough food to share with 4 other people. The only fault was the room didn't get very cool. They have central air but the room was so massive that the it never got completely cool. We did have a fan though. Definately a place to try out!!

Room Tip: We had the bridal suite

Very beautiful piece of history! We fell in love with this bed and breakfast. The inside and out is beautifully decorated with antique furniture. The owners were amazing and made the stay magical. The food is out of this world, we had one of the best breakfasts ever!

We arranged for a dinner for a group of industry associates that were in town for a meeting. There were 12 of us and the evening went very well. We enjoyed a pre-dinner glass of wine in front of the fireplace in a living room type of setting. We went up the stairs to a table that we nicely set with seasonal flowers. It was prefect for a group of this size. We enjoyed a spinach salad with home made ranch dressing followed by our dinner which was nicely grilled salmon and a filet. Along with the meats were southern green beans and twice baked loaded potato. Dessert was home made peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream - YUM

Roberta and Cart were great hosts. Thanks!
