As an almost last resort, we stopped at the Chop House in Franklin the other night as the wife was getting pretty hungry and choices are fewer than you think, even in this general area with a lot of restaurants (as so many are the same or just another chain- so tiring, they are....).
So it was a little surprising to be seated instantly, and the folks pleasant.
Choices of food were not as diverse as some others, but enough to allow each of us to find something we like. The cost of full dinner entree was more than I wanted to spend, although not beyond what most folks seem to be comfortable spending on a meal out. I'm a bit of a tightwad, thinking always in terms of what else I can get for that same amount of money elsewhere. So we opted for light meals.
I got the blackened chicken sandwich and a side of cole slaw. Pretty good, although very salty sandwich. My wife opted for the Reuben sandwich and the side of fries.
Honestly- I'd probably go back- not for the sandwich, which wasn't bad, but the slaw was very good. In fact, the fries were too. Those my wife didn't want I dipped in the leftovers of the slaw and ate- what a great thing!
Another strong point for this place- it is the only one I've been to in Franklin that serves water that does not have a chlorine smell strong enough to blot out the aroma of the food being served. I mean this for real. Nearly every other place in Franklin brings you a glass of water, and I need to have it taken away. The chlorine is so strong in this town you think you are drinking swimming pool water. Not so here. Very refreshing- I drank three glasses by the time the meal was over....then too, the amount of salt on the sandwich required something, but no chlorine! A real treat.
